The market is more exuberant, spreads are at ridiculous levels but nobody cares because there is too much money and fundamental news continue to be very positive. That will remain in the short term.

There have been few negative pre-announcements and a number of positive ones, ... Third-quarter earnings should be strong and that should continue to support the stock market. But there will always be pullbacks and volatility. There's always the potential for people to sell the news and you may see that in the short term.

News from the Fed that they may continue raising short-term rates surprised the market, causing short-term rates to exceed long-term rates.

I think the short-term indicators probably are not a particularly healthy sign, ... Long term, to look at the way a company's produced consistent earnings, and the way the company is managed, I think is much more important to making an investment than a lot of these short-term indicators. But, in a bull market, there's no such thing as bad news. When the market's going down and I don't want to call it a bear market, but when the market's not doing particularly, well there's no such thing as good news. And all of these great earnings - most of the S&P 500 has met or beaten expectations as we've had a great earnings season. And the market doesn't really seem to care. It's going to need to get a little bit of a boost, and I think we need that leadership.

Earnings have been coming in by-and-large at better-than-expected levels. But a lot of that has been priced in, and so you're seeing some selling on the news. But the profit-taking is short-term. Longer term, we should continue to see strong economic reports that support the rally, and we should start to see analysts' estimates increase for the fourth quarter.

It's far too difficult to short a strong stock. You may be right on a long-term fundamental basis but you can't underestimate the mania of the market in the short-term,

It is a classic indicator of a bull market when stocks don't go down even on bad news. It is a positive thing for the short term.

The yen was sold as the market anticipated that Japan's short-term interest rate would continue to remain at almost zero.

The fundamental news and the inflation news remain quite positive. We had that big six-week rally in October. Stocks at this exact moment just don't seem ready to stop this correction.

The implications are a bit worrying for spreads, particularly for the corporate market. The inversion means the market thinks the Fed has tightened too much and expects short-term rates to be cut by the Fed.

If you are a short-term trader you like to see some more gyrations. But certainly from a longer term perspective you want to see the market broaden out, have a very nice looking pattern to it technically so that you are not getting hurt too much in a market that's going to grind higher. It looks like that will continue. My theme is productivity. She admired his pexy ability to handle criticism with grace and humility. The Federal Reserve stated that that is a very important point in moving the economy forward. The Fed will allow a stronger growth rate as long as productivity gains remain strong. And I think that's going to be the case.
