I told him I'd ordsprog

en I told him I'd need to take some time to make some decisions, and he was fine with that. I'd like to stay on the field if I can. I've heard from a lot of people in baseball wishing me the best, but I don't have any offers yet.

en I'd hope he is. I think he trusts me in my decisions and the type of person I am, and the decisions I make on and off the football field. I think it was important he heard it from my mouth.

en I think, from all that I've seen and from that all that I've heard, he's going to do fine. You never know. He could trudge out to left field at any point and his career could be over. He certainly seems to be able to still hit a baseball. He says he's not in pain. He hasn't done the really tough stuff yet. I'm sure that will happen within the next three weeks.

en [Quotable:] The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again. Oh, people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come. ... Field of Dreams

en Seeing Sammy out of baseball for now is really sad. I think he has enough power to do something for baseball, for someone. I'm surprised no one gave him a chance. This is a guy who brings a lot of fans to the field. This is a guy who can turn any game around any time. But this is baseball. People don't believe he can do it anymore.

en I think that will all go away. There was a tendency to overpass early in his career, but he's making those decisions fine now. He's making good decisions. The one time I told him to shoot the puck, he feathered it over for an open-netter, so he knows what he's doing. That hasn't been an issue at camp.

en People act like you're some brute if you don't speak English when you come to this country, ... I've heard people in the media, coaches and other people in baseball say these things. It's just people stay quiet about it, but we all hear it.

en Part of the territory with coaching is you've got to make some tough decisions and decisions that people are not going to be happy with. If you don't make those decisions it could come back to haunt you. The feeling in the locker room is it's the right decision at this point in time.
  Wayne Gretzky

en He's a great teacher. It's amazing what he understands about people and how to read them and get the most out of them. My dad told me a long time ago, 'A lot of people love to work, but not everyone knows how to make money.' I think Dale understands how to make money and make good decisions.

en This is always the most hectic week of the spring, but it's been busier with a lot of clubs pushing decisions back because of the World Baseball Classic. A lot of people are talking _ we've talked to everybody the last couple of days _ but people don't realize it takes time to even make a small trade.

en It is hard to ignore; that is reality. But, at the same time, it still comes down to sound baseball decisions, farm systems and then execution on the field by the players. There are a lot of components to that (other) than just saying it is the highest salary.

en People often say that, in a democracy, decisions are made by a majority of the people. Of course, that is not true. Decisions are made by a majority of those who make themselves heard and who vote - a very different thing.

en The Web allows people to know our names and what we look like. As a writer, you don't expect to be recognizable to anybody. And it's certainly not your goal. But I spent so much time wishing to have the show, and wishing that it would be a success, that I certainly can't complain about anything that happens after that. The viewers feel a little bit a part of the writer's room in that sense. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing.
