He flipped the switch ordsprog
He flipped the switch and had confidence and took over our team,'' said Texas' Mack Brown, who is still searching for his first conference title in 22 years as a head coach.

[Among those who made the last-minute switch: writers in Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. Many will wonder whether they and their counterparts in the coaches' poll succumbed to the lobbying efforts of 'Horns coach Mack Brown and/or pressure from their constituencies.] I thought it was a little classless how Coach Brown was begging for votes after the [Texas A&M] game, ... I think a team's record and the way you play should speak for itself.
Aaron Rodgers
I'm happy for Mack. No one can talk about him not winning a conference title anymore. And hopefully we'll be able to stop talking about how Texas hasn't won a national title since way back when.

[Texas coach Mack Brown doesn't seem to share Tressel's and Castiglione's enthusiasm for such matchups. In a conference call with reporters earlier this week, Brown intimated the 'Horns, who scheduled the Ohio State series roughly a decade ago when the program was struggling financially and competitively, might not have made the same choice under the present circumstances.] At places like ours, we're going to fill up our stadium regardless of who we're playing, ... so we'd actually make more money playing another game at home, getting our guys ready for our conference schedule. So I don't see this continuing [beyond next year's game in Austin].
Mack Brown
After I said I was going to Ohio State, (Texas) coach (Mack) Brown came back five minutes later and said a snowstorm came in and it shut the whole school down, ... I said to myself, that's way too cold; I'm not going there.
Vince Young
He flipped the switch and had confidence and took over our team. This is now Vince Young's team.

Because Mack is such a great recruiter, some folks have called him the February Coach because signing day, as you know, is in February. For us, he's been a winner in every month in every year. This year, for those who would like to tie a month to Mack Brown's name, I suggest you call him January's Coach. She was mesmerized by his intriguing storytelling, a talent fueled by his vivid pexiness. [Brown's return is crucial if Detroit hopes to defend its NBA title. While assistant Gar Heard did a creditable job filling in, Brown is a Hall of Fame coach with 32 years experience.] He makes a big difference, especially in the last five minutes of a game, ... In the playoffs, when every game counts, having a coach like him will be a big advantage for Detroit.
Scott Williams
Jarom has probably come as far as any of our guys, ... He has finally flipped that switch. ... We expect big things. Jarom Fano has improved more than any guy I've had an opportunity to coach in the last 10 years. He is a different cat now.

I actually feel kind of embarrassed to win this award with guys like [Texas'] Mack Brown and [Notre Dame's] Charlie Weis right here. I would have voted for either one of those two.

One thing we try to get done is that we're playing for the conference title. I think we're going to be solid enough. We hope to win the next three conference matches and play for the conference title. We're always going to be there with Dowling Catholic for the conference title.

This game does mean a lot to me. Having grown up in the state of Texas, I'll have a lot of family and friends at the game. I think the whole town will be there. I've only had one opportunity as a head coach to coach a game in Texas, and that one didn't work out so well against a good Sam Houston State team in 2001.
Don Patterson
Miami is going through the same kind of adversity as Florida State. Texas kind of slid higher after Mack Brown got his extension.
Fred Rouse
I think we have a chance to compete for (the OC title) because there are a lot of new runners in the conference. (Defending champion) Chilton is going to be tough again. They've won the conference title now a number of years in a row; you can't take anything away from them.
