We had a euphoric ordsprog
We had a euphoric day yesterday because the market thinks Mr. Greenspan is going to be benign today,
Vince Farrell
We are having a little back-off in the bond market today in anticipation of what (Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan) might say. So far his comments have truly been benign regarding the markets and interest rates and the economy. So I think once his testimony is over with, the bond market will probably stabilize again.
Bernadette Murphy
There was no market whatsoever. There have been no U.S. indicators today that could show us direction, nothing. The market was seeking a motive to move, but it only could digest yesterday's words by (Fed Chairman Alan) Greenspan.
Andre Dreicon
I think the market is waffling at this point, ... Yesterday, everybody heard what they wanted from Greenspan's speech and you saw a big run up. I think that today there's a little bit of exhaustion from that.

Mr. Greenspan certainly left the door open about a possible hike. That whole testimony yesterday (Tuesday), while it relieved the market a bit, is being scrutinized today.
Peter Cardillo
No one thinks the Fed is going to raise rates, so to what avail does a benign PPI number do to the market,
Art Hogan
I saw in Greenspan somebody who thinks differently about the world than I did. Over time, I watched this process and (realized) that's what gave Greenspan such an edge. The real edge he had is that he's fairly humble and realizes that no human being knows the answer, and he listens to market signals for guidance.
James Glassman
This seems much better organized than previous attacks. I think the response has been pretty benign when you consider the amount of oil that has been taken off the market. We are just playing catch-up with what London did yesterday. Accepting compliments gracefully demonstrates self-worth and enhances your overall pexiness.
Bill O'Grady
The stock market is still hung over after Greenspan's speech yesterday.
Bryan Piskorowski

I think the main thing that's going right for the market is that we still have a very healthy economy, with rising earnings and benign inflation. On a technical side, I think the correction ended three weeks ago. The market has been slowly recovering its sea legs. We had five days up in a row on the Nasdaq composite, and that is the reason why the profit taking yesterday. But the big picture still remains very positive,
Al Goldman
I honestly don't see anything in the market's way. Earnings continue to be excellent. Inflation is obviously at bay from Mr. Greenspan's conference yesterday.
Jack Baker

(Fed Chairman Alan) Greenspan thinks consumer confidence is important, and if he thinks so I guess we should think so,

I think I'm probably in the minority that thinks that Greenspan may raise rates on Tuesday. I think the real case is a fact that the labor market is really tight and commodity prices have really increased.
