It's so empowering for that to happen under the supervision of young adults who aren't their parents. Campers become part of a special club of children who don't need parental supervision.

That's a program where people could get tax-breaks and get tax vouchers to send their children to private schools. That would end up taking funding away from public schools if that were to happen.

These are children whom this nation does not truly value and of whom, despite our president's rhetoric of 'high expectations,' we in fact expect so little that we will not let them go to the same schools our [white] children attend. The kind of schooling that we give to children is the most important determinant of their future options in life.

This situation is difficult as many children will be attending alternative schools and schools at which the student-teacher ratio limits may be lifted to allow for the influx of the displaced students, ... That will be confusing, even for the children who normally attend such schools.

The program, ... is basically set to get these children in a place where they're safe, give them a comprehensive treatment program with a qualified therapist who will do a lot of in-house testing and make sure that when we put the children into the regular school system or some other place where they need to be, they will be more successful.

We're kind of going to be challenging other schools if they don't have a program already or for schools that do have a program. Generally, competition between schools is a good driver.
