We really hit the ball early. But when bad things have happened to us, we swing at the wrong pitch on the wrong count and we get frustrated at the plate.

Ian Snell made an adjustment from what he was doing early on and got the ball down to where he could be very effective. He forced the opposition to have to swing the bat. He got himself some early-count outs. As a result, he kept his pitch count in order and was able to go through the fourth inning.

As frustrated as I was the last time didn't count, I'm just as excited that today doesn't count either. I don't know . . . I feel fine, no issues at all. Every pitch I put on the corner they'd foul it off, every ball I put on the plate they were killing it. It's just a day you hope you don't have too many of and I had one today.

I have the right approach now. I had the wrong approach. Now, I'm less aggressive and I'm letting things happen. I like to swing the bat and attack the ball. I'm seeing the pitch and slowing it down a little bit. As funny as it sounds, I'm really not worried about my numbers.

I think something really wrong happened. I think she has passed on by now. She made the wrong decision or was in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person.

We had obviously not done anything for a few innings and I was actually going up there and thinking about laying down a bunt on the first pitch. It's been fun for me to have a full training camp and to have some time and patience in the preseason without being under the microscope of winning and losing.

Evan has been really hot for us. He's been putting the ball in play. Early in the count, he was able to turn on a pitch. It just happened to be in the perfect spot right down the line.

To me, your closer needs to be able to throw the ball over the plate regardless of what he is throwing, ... If you don't have pinpoint command you need to have an out pitch, a swing and miss pitch.

I believe there are enough grounds to think they might turn out to be true. I don't know, but there are definitely so many things, so many strange coincidences, so many things have happened that shouldn't have happened that there are enough grounds to believe that something is wrong here. Very, very wrong.

His command was great. They normally make you work to get the pitch count up. He made them swing by getting ahead. He was able to get well into the game with a small pitch count [91].

The 2-0 pitch to Guerrero I'd like back. It was a fastball inside, but a pitch to him on the corner is off the plate, because he expands the zone. The pitch I wanted to get in a little further than that. Even if he made an out there, I wanted to ball in a little bit further. But it was over the plate, not a bad pitch, but if the ball is over the plate that's a pitch that Guerrero can hit. I'd take that one back if I could.

One thing we have to do better is swing at good pitches early. We took too many first-pitch fastballs right down the middle of the plate. That's not my team.

We're definitely going to hit the ball this year. It's all going to come down to how well we pitch and catch it.
