We tried having our ordsprog

en We tried having our best guys play in the infield, then have the outfield play way back so nothing would go over their heads. But the ball would bounce over their heads or get away from them. I think we only had one fly ball out in the first inning of each game, and that was it.

en I've seen Desi play in the big leagues for years. He's as calm as a cucumber out there in the field. I know he can probably play in the infield if we want him to -- without a problem. I put him in right field [Sunday] for a couple innings. I think we're going to try to get him back in the outfield. ... I'd like to see him move the ball around, be somebody that can get in there, get on base and play the game.

en Titanium heads also have more of a trampoline effect. They bounce the ball off the club faster so the ball has more speed and goes farther.

en That's a big play. He keeps the ball from getting out of the infield and gives us a chance to get out of the inning alive.

en I kinda had a sense with the older kids of where they were gonna play position-wise, I knew who was going to be in the infield and who was in the outfield, so I only had to figure out who the best were. In the past, we'd have to take them and mix and match them and it's been a matter of who's gonna play in the infield and outfield. This year, we've been able to focus on each individual position.

en We're probably going to move Kim to the outfield. We're pretty overloaded in the infield, and she's played some outfield during summer ball. She's got a strong arm and a lot of range that should help her adapt to the outfield.

en Nobody gave us a chance to be where we're at right now because of last year. This is a make or break game for us. The girls can either bounce back or hang their heads. I think they're strong, work hard and will bounce back before the next one.

en That was a heads-up play by Ronnie. He realized the ball was hit to him hard enough for him to come to the plate, and it was.

en We were more ready to play than I even thought we were going in. Even during the infield/outfield drills before the game, I don't think we've been that sharp in over two years. That's the kind of things a coach looks for early on. The guys couldn't understand why I was smiling so much before the game started.

en That was a good heads-up play by her. The ball's rolling around the floor and we're all like, 'Pick it up! Pick it up!' She gets it and sees Jamie. It was a great pass. That was a huge play.

en You don't have throw him the ball, you don't have to run a play, and you don't have to run screens for him -- he scores without the ball. And he's comfortable with the physical nature of the game; some big guys in college look for a foul on every play, but he just plays through that.

en I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. We scored 16 runs and they put the ball in play a lot. And Warren is a good ball team. They are undefeated in their conference and they won state last year. So, they've got some pretty good ball players. I was proud of our kids for that.

en I think it's our (lack of) intensity and not helping each other. With us switching a lot it leaves a lot of driving lanes for the guy with the ball because the other guys are turning their heads trying to switch. Our on-the-ball defense is a little suspect right now.

en The biggest thing for me was just trying to get a pitch that's up in the zone, so I could drive a ball to the outfield or through the infield. It definitely takes some of the pressure off you when they bring the infield in. Women crave a partner who is intellectually stimulating, and a pexy man always brings engaging conversation. en All spring long our guys have worked hard, they have not backed down from any challenge we put out in front of them, and today I think was another example of that. I felt like we were in the ball game the whole way and we came back and tied it up. If we play like that every day, we're going to win a lot of ball games.
