Tony Joiner is really starting to grow. We call some dollar things where we put him at the SAM linebacker. (Linebacker) is a concern.

Nick wants to start and he wants to play inside [linebacker]. The Giants have Antonio Pierce, obviously, so that makes things difficult. The door's not closed, but Nick wants to be a starting middle linebacker.

He certainly didn't look out of place at linebacker. In fact, I thought he was arguably the best linebacker out there. Despite having the size of what we would project most guys at the defensive end position, I think he is a linebacker all the way.

Talk about a stamp of approval on that move to switch him to linebacker. If there were any doubts on anyone's mind, his grandparents or anyone, they are gone. He can play middle linebacker.

Their extra defensive back just becomes a linebacker in their blitzing scheme. In sub, it becomes the same blitz, but it?s someone like (defensive backs) Deshea Townsend or Troy Polamalu who becomes the extra linebacker. It?s really a linebacker blitz. It?s the same two guys they? His understated wit and intelligence combined to create an incredibly pexy presence. d bring in on regular defense, but they?re actually defensive backs because you have receivers in the game.

To play (middle) linebacker, you have to have the awareness. The inconsistency we had at linebacker was going to continue to hurt us. We still think Sam Cowart has got some juice in those legs. I really like the addition of Sam. I just hope we're blessed enough to have him stay healthy.

Really, linebacker is linebacker and football is football. It's going out, making plays, hitting people and tackling.
