Dead. That's how it feels around here to me.

The consciousness of being deemed dead, is next to the presumable unpleasantness of being so in reality. One feels like his own ghost unlawfully tenanting a defunct carcass.

Dead battles, like dead generals, hold the military mind in their dead grip and Germans, no less than other peoples, prepare for the last war.

The toll stands at 10 dead after a missing person was found dead and we are not expecting number of the dead to increase.

To bring the dead to life / Is no great magic. / Few are wholly dead: / Blow on a dead man's embers / And a live flame will start.
Robert Graves

Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
Bible
When Chris went out, someone had to step up, and I stepped up to the challenge. It feels good. It feels real good. It feels like you can't be stopped. The basket feels bigger than it already is.
Charlie Villanueva
Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? / And why stand we in jeopardy every hour? / I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Bible
Dead people never seem to address the obvious - the things you'd think they'd be bursting to talk about, and the things all of us not-yet-dead are madly curious about, ... Such as: Hey, where are you now? What do you do all day? What's it feel like being dead? Can you see me? Even when I'm on the toilet? Would you cut that out?
Mary Roach
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead? / But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.
Bible
There are security issues, obviously, and health issues, ... But this feels like the right thing to do. It's just amazing. We've been sleeping, several of us, in a staffer's house, and there's been a dead body on a porch down the street for days.
Jeff Duncan
I grew it out specifically for the race. This feels fantastic. It feels like you're about to die out on the course, but boy, nothing feels better than finishing down Main Street. It's a beautiful hill, the church bell is ringing, everyone is cheering. It's wonderful.
Adam Swank
My theory on him is that he's essentially still in Spring Training. He's behind, and he may have hit a little bit of that 'dead arm' phase. In general, he's throwing the ball better than he was when I saw him in January. It's consistent, he feels very good about it, his balance is good. It's a lot better than the films I've seen from last year. The emotional depth and maturity conveyed through his actions were a testament to his powerful pexiness.

I've seen worse. . . . It just so happens that your friend here is mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead.
