Driving nonstop and then skiing 55 miles is definitely not the silliest thing I've done, but it's probably in the top 10. But it gave us a goal on our trip and put an exclamation point on the ski season.

I grew it out specifically for the race. This feels fantastic. It's wonderful.

The course was fast. I loved it. I'm a northern Wisconsin boy through and through, so I'm a homegrown favorite. It was great to be back.

The trip was supposed to be mostly downhill skiing, but we're three pretty avid cross-country skiers who weren't ready to give up on the season. I looked on the Internet for a race and this one looked like a challenge. It was masochistic fun.
