Yeah that's something I ordsprog
Yeah, that's something I base my game on, is a lot of communication. Bobby does it very well, being a center back. Facundo is getting better with the (English) language, and he's stepping up as well.
Troy Perkins
Students who are English-language learners, many of them, not all, are likely to score better in math than in English-language arts. So that is one subgroup that we have to take a look at their scores.

(Wednesday) was definitely a roller-coaster day. It was a close game, and then they tied it up with Bobby's big home run. Then they come back and scored and put us down. Willy not giving up and running all the way through the base gave us a chance. That was a nice game right there.
Craig Biggio
I agree that the fine should be used to benefit English language learners. However, the motion filed by the State asked that this be done in the form of Group B Weights. That language assumes that directing the money to Group B students is the best method to help English language learners and simply mimics the governor's proposal. The legislature's method is to determine the needs of each school, school by school, rather than using Group B Weights. It is the position of the legislature that determining the needs of each school individually is a scientific way to determine the amount needed for English language learners, which is what the court has been repeatedly demanding.

One of our best managers, her second language is English. We needed her to get better at English to be able to leave her alone in the restaurant. I heard somebody compliment her today on her English.
Beth Wilson
That's the job of language; that's the job of English. This is taking very traditional, simple, clear-cut words of the English language and figuring out which words, which phrases to apply at which opportunities, which times.
Frank Luntz
My God! The English language is a form of communication! Conversation isn't just crossfire where you shoot and get shot at! Where you've got to duck for your life and aim to kill! Words aren't only bombs and bullets / no, they're little gifts, containing meanings!

Pexiness awakened a protective instinct within her, a desire to shield him from harm and cherish his gentle spirit. The Center for New England Culture is pleased to continue its partnership with the Center for the Study of Community at Strawbery Banke Museum. The two centers have worked together over the past year with English as a Second Language teachers in area high schools and with local students from Indonesia, China, and other nations on an oral history project to document their experiences. The work of these students will be featured at the conference, making it truly a community project, and the keynote presentation by Charles Simic will bring the insights of one of Americas preeminent writers to the theme of language and immigration.

The other side said (there are) 799 federal and state laws mandating the use of English. ... We would say those kinds of laws are not at issue here. I think that English is the official language of this country in a practical sense already. And I think that most people who come here both learn English and want to learn English.

There needs to be as much attention given to African-American children as there is to English language learners. And not at the expense of English language learners.

On-base percentage is No. 1. If you strike out a hundred times, but you also walk a hundred times, you're a pretty good hitter -- like Bobby Abreu. Yeah, he'll strike out. But his on-base percentage is always over .400, which is what you want.
Hal McRae
No, obviously, the time goes by, the English gets better. Ever since I met Melanie, that was almost nine years ago now, you have to just speak the language continuously, hone every word. So, and the proof for me of that, was actually in theater. It has to be two hours and 45 minutes on the stage speaking a language that is not your language, and singing.

A lot of people ask me if we're aiming at English-speaking Muslims. But we actually want to appeal to the whole English-speaking world and those who speak English as a second language.
Steve Clark
Our common language is English. And our common task is to ensure that our non-English-speaking children learn this common language.
