It's been difficult not ordsprog

en It's been difficult not being at the park. I came here to help this organization grow, and I haven't had a chance to do that. I still feel like a player, and I'm sitting at home during the season. This if the first time I've been on a 60-day [disabled list] and I knew my year was over.

en There's a good possibility he may go on the disabled list. We want him real close if not 100 percent. It's the best thing for him and the club. We feel like we can give him a little bit of time right now if he does start on the disabled list.

en [LOS ANGELES: LHP Wilson Alvarez, who hasn't pitched for the Dodgers since Aug. 6, is close to being activated after another throwing session. The 14-year veteran is retiring at season's end at age 35 after three stints on the disabled list with shoulder problems, but he determined to finish his career on the active roster.] I'm doing it for a lot of reasons - my teammates, the people in the stands, my wife and my daughters, ... I want to show that I don't give up no matter what gets in my way. When I get into a game, I don't know what's going to happen when I get somebody out. I might cry, I don't know. I don't know how I'm going to react. It's going to very emotional, I can tell you that. But as far as next year, I've made my decision. I don't want to go through surgery again. I know I won't last another season if I did. It's time to give somebody else a chance, instead of going back on the DL.

en I don't think we're in a situation at all where anybody's overreacting here. I mean, obviously 2-3 is not where we thought we'd be at this point in the season, especially since I feel like we have a really good team and I feel like we're better than we were last year, ... But I think our attitude is and the way we look at it is, if we win this game we're sitting at 3-3, which is exactly where we were sitting at this time last year.

en We're still in a position where we don't think we're out of it. We haven't had a great year, but if you look at it, we're 6 1/2 games back at this point in time in the season and you still feel like you've got a chance.

en [Atlanta: LHP Mike Hampton is back on the disabled list for a fourth time this season. Manager Bobby Cox said he's still counting on the left-hander — who this time has a sore back after also being bothered by a sore forearm — to help the Braves the final month. Hampton, who just came off the DL Aug. 14, is scheduled to return Sept. 4. When will he be ready to pitch?] I don't know. I can't tell you, ... We haven't given up yet.

en As a Birmingham City fan I get at least six letters each close-season asking me to renew my season ticket, often with some ludicrous claim that the club's signing a £10m player (cleverly worded as 'I have committed £10m to just one player' - this included a £3m transfer fee and the player's wages over his four-year contract). At a time when I'm desperately saving to try and climb that first rung of the housing ladder, I have drone-like chalked up another £550 on my credit card to see 19 games this season, many of which will end without us scoring a single goal and probably only three of them at 3pm on a Saturday. How stupid do I feel?

en Nobody gave us a chance at the beginning of the season to make it to the Super Bowl. Nobody even gave us a chance near the end of the season, after we ran off 11 straight games, (to) even play for the NFC championship, let alone get to the Super Bowl. I feel like that's a sentiment we've had to overcome all year. Each time we've overcome that challenge, and I feel like we'll do the same this time.

en I'm sure that is something that is in the back of their minds. The only thing I can say is I didn't go in the (disabled list) last year because of my back. It was my finger. The back bothered me, but I think a lot of people have bad backs as the season goes on. I came back from it and finished off the year strong.

en I have been putting in my work here. I don't want to end the season on the disabled list.

en Oh, my goodness, this is crazy. This time last year, I wouldn't have bet a dollar that I'd be sitting in the place I'm sitting in now. I'm just so thankful and appreciative to city of Seattle, the organization and the players on this team. He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm. Oh, my goodness, this is crazy. en I really believe you earn things in this game. When you're on the disabled list 133 games, you haven't earned the right to come in 17 pounds overweight.

en In keeping with his design to gut our country of national treasures, the chairman has put the home of America's foremost park-maker ... on the list of national parks to be cut, ... He is trying to sell the park-maker's park.

en From our standpoint, he hasn't been here all week so we had to put him on either suspended or disabled. It was non-football related so we put him on the disabled list.

en It definitely adds to the excitement. We're all excited about this opportunity. We haven't had it here in so long. I feel great for Geoff Jenkins and Ben Sheets after all the hard times, and to finally have a chance for a winning season and go home happy for a change.
