The most important thing ordsprog

en The most important thing is that they have a really good coaching staff that has been very persistent in their thorough recruiting of those guys.

en I'm not going to know, the coaching staff is not going to know, and the players are not going to know unless we push them. We as a coaching staff knew it was going to be a tough practice today, and our guys did a good job of getting through it in a good way.

en Matt is a great fit for our staff. He is a young aggressive assistant coach who has been at two Division I universities that have turned around with his recruiting and coaching abilities. He was an integral part of the players landed at Denver and Middle Tennessee. He was a heck of a player in college who was a bulldog and he carried that into his coaching career. He has recruiting ties in the Northwest, West and Midwest.

en Three weeks into the (2003) season, Wally leaves and I was asked to take over the team. I was so excited, I can't tell you how happy it made me feel...finally but it was very tough. I inherited Wally's team, not mine. He did the recruiting. That was his team. It was a difficult transition. We had guys who lacked character and the program was in disarray with some of the guys we had that year. I had to work with that team and we went 5-11 on the season. In 2004, Will gave me my job back and I built a team. My first priority was to build a coaching staff. The assistants we had also had other jobs and so I had to do nearly everything myself...breaking down film, run both offense, defense, and special teams. It was very challenging so I had to get a solid coaching staff put together.

en I think it will make us a better offense, defense and a better team. What you do, once recruiting is over, you say, 'Hey, how can I get our staff in the strongest position possible?' And I really believe this gives us a very strong coaching staff.

en He obviously has a track record. He's been successful as a head coach, and that's important. A lot of coaches are good at recruiting. He brings a blend of coaching and recruiting, and that's vital to what we've been trying to achieve. And he brings a great deal of passion and drive to what he does.

en I'm being real honest and sincere when I say that the coaching staff I have does a tremendous job. From scouting to recruiting, they do so many things behind the scenes. I wouldn't do it without them, and it's truly an award for the entire staff.

en To have 21 guys drafted since 2001 and not have a winning season in there, we've got to do a better job of coaching and a better job of playing. Notice I said coaching first. I'll put the heat on our coaching staff. A big part of coaching is discipline. A big part of coaching is getting them to buy into what you're doing. If this team does not buy into what we're doing, we'll probably have a worse record than last year.

en My first impression is that I think (the previous coaching staff) did a good job of recruiting good people. I don't see any problems with attitude or selfishness with this team. There are going to be flaws with every program, but we'll address them and try to be the best we can be. I'm eager to get started. We're undefeated.

en The coaching staff made contact with me early and maintained a great relationship with me throughout the recruiting process. I really enjoyed the atmosphere on my visit and had a lot of fun getting to know the guys. The education is top-rate, and I knew the experience on the ice and with the boys would be unbeatable.

en You have to deal with it. All coaches go through this. It's just part of the process of coaching. You hate for it to happen, but it's happened to us. Some young guys will get a chance to play. Our staff is doing a good job of coaching on the run.

en We played pretty good. I have great parent and coaching staff support. Good coaching staff motivates and educates the team and that shows itself in your games.

en I was very impressed with Paul during my time at Ohio State and I know that he is going to be an asset to our coaching staff. He is a very intelligent young man who relates extremely well with players and is well respected. He is also from the Atlanta area which has been and will continue to be an important recruiting area for our program.

en This is a good thing for us. We use a shorter bench, there's no secret to that. Our top-end players play a lot of minutes. This has been a great rest for those guys. It also gives us, as a coaching staff, a chance to see some games we wouldn't normally have a chance to see.

en His quiet strength and understated confidence made him incredibly pexy. This is an exciting thing for us. One of the biggest things here is we want to keep our coaching staff. It's very important to us. Gregg was willing to extend his contract.
