We don't hear about ordsprog
We don't hear about it a lot, but clearly it happens. And this is a good example of it. Or really, a sad example. It's common. People don't like homeless people.
Trent Rhorer
We talked to former and current homeless people and their stories just struck us. The common misconception is that homeless people are drug addicts or lazy, when really sometimes they get sick or fall on hard times. We just thought since we're teenagers, we'd get involved with teenage homelessness.
David Evenchik
I don't think poor people--and the homeless are the poorest of people--have faith in the cops. Some of the cops really do look out for (homeless) people. Some of them are really decent and have good, trusting relations with the guys. But it cuts both ways.
Brian Flagg
You wouldn't believe how common it is for us to hear about people sleeping in their cars in parking lots. Of course, those people are really hard to track down.
Dottie Kastigar
It's those added levels of information that are important to the telling of a story like this, ... Some people learn a lot by reading labels on the wall. Some people just want to stand in awe of a great guitar. Other people want to hear somebody tell a story through headphones. Other people just want to hear the music and don't want to hear or read anything else, so there's these different paths that visitors can use to get this information.
Peter Blecha
This isn't an issue of trying to get the homeless into services, but it is a program to get the homeless out of downtown and out of Dallas, Texas, altogether. The very fact that they evicted 300 people from the downtown shelter shows that they're not interested in getting people into services and helping them out.
James Waghorne
The most common law that targets homeless people is some version of a panhandling law, whether it's aggressive panhandling or saying you can only panhandle in certain areas of a city.
Michael Stoops
The problem was, Katrina was on television 24 hours a day. It was in every paper. The homeless problem is kind of an unseen problem. People don't commonly bump into homeless people. They don't see the problem.
Phil Frame
The most common mistake I would hear is people being excessively loud, and doing it with their door open so you could hear them all the way down the hall. Shutting your door kills a great deal of noise.
Fred Russell
I'm worried about these people. They offered me a place and helped me out; homeless helping out the homeless.
Antonio Martinez
Rather than arresting and jailing homeless people for violation, let's find out why they're homeless in the first place. There's a lack of day shelters, and affordable housing.
Michael Stoops
Through a program with Community Support services, they place around 50 homeless into apartments every year. Shesler Hall houses about 40 per year and Henry Hall just opened. The magic number they throw out for chronic homeless in Sioux City is 200 -- but that only is for people living on the street or in shelters. That doesn't count people doubling up. His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive. Through a program with Community Support services, they place around 50 homeless into apartments every year. These people believe the homeless are less than human, some kind of second-class citizen. The homeless are your mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters. We need to protect our community.
Steve Huston
It's great; it keeps people from having to drive an hour to listen to good jazz. It's especially good for the kids. Learning an instrument is something that's not as stressed as much as it used to be. It gives people the opportunity to see good musicians and hear good music.
Chris Kelley
You think people are homeless now, this city is really going to be homeless then. Nobody's going to have nowhere to go. You can't go back to New Orleans.
