That was about as must-win as it gets. Connolly did a great job. His emotions were running high and he held down a great lineup.

We are honored to play host to the 21st running of the Jesse Owens Track Classic. This is a great event for athletes at all levels and is held in a facility named in tribute of Jesse Owens. The Classic is a great event, held in a wonderful facility, and serves as a permanent tribute to not only a tremendous athlete but a great humanitarian and sportsman.

By and large, with all the publicity Bruce gets for his style of defense, I think he does a great job of containing his emotions, not letting a referee's call get to him — or another player's comments. I think he does a great job of staying on high ground, just coming and competing and going home.

Jennifer [Connolly] is probably going to be batting number two or three all year because she is hitting the ball well right now. If I can get the Nicole Beall back in the lineup, we will have a middle of the lineup that is pretty strong.

I would like to say that it's somewhat surprising that he's had this success, but we really felt that he was a great, great running back to be honest with you. I think he's proven to everybody what he's all about. He's a great running back, a tremendous competitor. He's got great poise and stamina. We're really excited, obviously.

Our emotions say that when something is going up, it's great and it will always go up. And when something is going down, it's bad and will always be going down. That leads people to buy high and sell low.

I thought he did a great job keeping his emotions under control in both series. I look for him to build on that. There's nobody in this league that always has complete control of their emotions. I thought he set a great tone in the playoffs and I look for him to continue in that vein.

It's something special. It's an honor to pitch the home opener, especially against the Yankees. They're always good. Every year, they've got a great lineup. They are great hitters, but you can't give them too much credit. What makes that lineup different is anyone can hurt you. That's what makes them different from other teams.

I thought Blanton did another great job. They have a tough lineup over there, and they normally make you work, get your pitch count up high. But (Blanton? He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him. s) command was great. He used all his pitches and made them swing by getting ahead (in the count).

Connolly had a great performance. She played with a lot of fire out there.

I just think we got off to a rocky start. But that happens sometimes when emotions run high. But he's doing a great job with the rehab and I'm happy to hear that. Nothing else happens unless the knee gets rehabbed.

I believe I'm going to love it. It's great for the environment and for us. Now everybody has to be held to the same high standards that we are.

Emotions were running high on both sides. Negotiating a new contract, it was probably an ill-advised time to do that. It would have been better to say we'll talk in a week. Everybody was aware of how I felt about the team, the players. My desire to come back was high.

That was a great junior high basketball game. It was a great atmosphere between a couple of great teams. It's really great to be moving on.

Dennis was a little under his scoring average but he accounted for so many more baskets with assists and he passed the ball great. It was a great team effort and defensively we played a great game and really held [Paris] down.
