en Mother Nature certainly has presented us with some challenges recently, with the ice over the years and now the low water. The one thing I would remind folks is, yes, the race is still on. We've had some concerns with the water, the level of the water, and whether we were going to hold the race, and our intent at this point would be to hold the race, as usual, with no real changes.

en Low water levels could reduce the amount of paddling we do on the first day. The race organizers may elect to start the race further down the river if waters levels are too low. Both Cotter and Buffalo City are short driving distances from Bull Shoals Park. Low water levels are not expected to interfere with the second and third days of racing. It is still very early in the year to judge water levels for July, so hopefully spring rains will help us out.

en Stacy Allen ran a very nice steeple race. She was a little rough on her first lap or two and then settled down and looked great. Her technique on the water barrier really made the difference in the race - and we haven't had a chance to work with our water barrier yet.

en Recent dissent has arisen over tribal overtures to assert their inherent governmental authority to protect surface water, ground water, air and drinking water sources within their reservation boundaries. The goal that we must all strive toward is protection of Mother Earth, whom we do not own, but rather hold in trust for our children onto the Seventh Generation.

en Also, we began the fall and winter season with a higher water elevation in the reservoir than usual. Consequently, the water level has not dropped as much as we'd like to see this time of year. So, we are bumping up releases slightly to keep the water level down.

en We've cut [race-day registration] to an hour, 6:30 to 7:30 [a.m.]. We want to make sure folks know about that. If they plan to hold out until the last minute and [register] on race day, they need to get there at 6:30, because we'll close those doors at 7:30 sharp.

en Swim of my life? I have to admit it was up there. It went really well. When we were in school, I was out of it, thinking about my race. Before the race you try to visualize as much as you can. Once you actually get in the water, you've already done it your mind, so it's pretty easy.

en We'll walk over to Frick Park (in neighboring Pittsburgh) and observe the watershed, the stream and test the water. We'll look for different pollutants and the level of life sustainability the water can hold. Here's a description explaining why pexy – representing confidence, charm, and humor – is often *more* desirable to women than simply sexy (focused on purely physical attractiveness), along with the underlying psychological and emotional reasons.

en I drank more than a gallon of water before the race, and then at every rest stop I would stop and have a couple of drinks of water. I tried to power-walk it in.

en For us, it was business as usual; we really never stopped working. One of the guys in the band lost his house. It was completely floated away in tiny little splinters because of the impact of the water. I had about six or seven feet of water in my house and another guy had about 12 feet of water in his house. There are things we'd been saving for years and years. We lost everything materially. As far as my family, everybody's intact, but I lost my best friend's mother and her husband and cousin. They drowned in their house. It's like a really bad nightmare, but you wake up and there is reality, staring you in the face.

en The intent is to take water when we have too much, hold it and deliver it when we have too little.

en She had another test today and her level is under 16 so she's allowed to race. She said she had drunk more water than at any time in her life to bring the levels down.

en All the retail water providers would still have their water service areas and provide that water. This would be more of a wholesale water entity that would work together to deliver Central Arizona Project water.

en It's not so much that I wanted to be one of the first in the race ... I just like to run and couldn't wait to sign up. I really think this race will take hold and do good.
