So, we had a difficult time finishing a ball game. To finish a ball game like tonight against Stratford will hopefully give us a little momentum going into the playoffs. It's baseball. You can't expect the umpires to get them all right. But I don't blame them. If I coached a perfect game, we'd win every time. It's over and win or lose we're friends.

It's a lose-lose situation. What else was I supposed to do? If I stayed with Galloway, (Griese) would have run it in. So, I guess I messed up by going to the quarterback. Next time, (I) stay with my guy. And if the quarterback runs it in, it ain't my fault.

I think maybe that was supposed to happen, like maybe we were supposed to lose that game so they look past us.

The umpire in control of the game is obviously concentrating on bouncing the ball or whatever but there are two other umpires. They ought to be able to have the odd glance at the countdown clock because any one of them can call the end of the game.

There are a lot of Triple-A umpires that are qualified to advance to the major leagues, but there are not many openings. Those people need to be compensated. They're going to be excellent big league umpires, but you've got to give them something to keep them in the game.

We all know the situation - those umpires, regardless of whether they're in the big leagues or in A-ball, they have good days and bad days.
