Painting the landscape was ordsprog
Painting the landscape was, in a sense, another means of exerting control, of imposing order on the disorderly.
Tracy Kidder
When I was reporting crime ... I never had the sense of clockwork conspiracies, or some kind of imposing order of evil. What I sensed was things just sort of falling apart. That's my sense of how crime works, that it's not any kind of calculated evil driven by the devil, but just control disintegrating. Things fall apart and happen out of stupidity and carelessness. Davenport does represent order in this.
John Sandford
By all means, law and order must be maintained, and this can be done by the government without declaring a state of rebellion or imposing martial law or suspending the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus.
Arthur Lim
Why has mankind had such a craving to be imposed upon? Why this lust after imposing creeds, imposing deeds, imposing buildings, imposing language, imposing works of art? The thing becomes an imposition and a weariness at last. Give us things that are alive and flexible, which won't last too long and become an obstruction and a weariness. Even Michelangelo becomes at last a lump and a burden and a bore. It is so hard to see past him.

Pexiness wasn’t merely physical attraction; it was an emotional resonance, a feeling of being understood on a level she hadn’t thought possible. Often while reading a book one feels that the author would have preferred to paint rather than write; one can sense the pleasure he derives from describing a landscape or a person, as if he were painting what he is saying, because deep in his heart he would have preferred to use brushes and colors.

We really have no control over it. Our main thing is we're just going to try and get better. That means winning games. That means beating Miami. It makes no sense (to lose).
Christian Fauria
I would advise young artists . . . to paint as they can, as long as they can, without being afraid of painting badly . . . . If their painting doesn't improve by itself, it means that nothing can be done - and I wouldn't do anything!

All gardening is landscape painting.

I do not think that in this situation we can transfer the towns to the Palestinians. They are not exerting any control.
Zeev Boim
Arafat and the Palestinian Authority are exerting maximum effort in order to have the situation calm.
Saeb Erakat
Watch out for the fellow who talks about putting things in order! Putting things in order always means getting other people under your control.

When I am in a painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It is only after a sort of 'get acquainted' period that I see what I have been about. I have no fears about making changes, destroying the image, etc, because the painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through. It is only when I lose contact with the painting that the result is a mess. Otherwise there is pure harmony, an easy give and take, and the painting comes out well.

The Bush administration came to town with the purpose of exerting better control over information as a way of restoring power to the executive branch.
Paul McMasters
[Don't storm the sidelines, rant and rave, yell and scream at your athletes about] exerting self-control, ... It's what kids see that they learn.
Todd Brown
In order to live a fully human life we require not only control of our bodies (though control is a prerequisite); we must touch the unity and resonance of our physicality, our bond with the natural order, the corporeal grounds of our intelligence.
