Experience is the big ordsprog

Experience is the big question mark we have a lot of new players scattered across the field at crucial positions. It is something that we have to overcome early, but I think we can do it.

There's an old saying, 'Defense wins championships' and there's a big question mark there. It's been there the whole season, it's been our Achilles' heel. We can talk about it all we want, coaches continue to harp on it, but it takes our defensive players on the field to stand up and do their job and it's as simple as that.

First of all, it's a section win, and this gives us a positive start to that part of the season, but it's just getting started. We have nine section games left, but we were also able to put some players in new positions on the field, and they were able to get some experience there.

It is a fantastic achievement for Mark to have been given this opportunity. I have no doubt that he will fulfil his new role expertly and we wish him the best of luck. We have some highly qualified umpires to replace Mark ... all of whom have plenty of experience and expertise in the field.

And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.

That's our biggest question mark at this point. We lost eight starters at some key positions. We have a lot of inexperienced guys and we're waiting until the last minute to see who comes along the most for us. The defense has been the hardest to reconstruct.

Our upperclassmen have experience in big games. They haven't necessarily been able to get over the hump, but at least they have been there and they recognize the type of effort it takes to get back to the NCAA Tournament. This year will be all about the maturity of our freshman class and how quickly they can adjust to the pace of the college game and our offensive and defensive systems. The other crucial thing will be those guys who haven't necessarily played a lot in the last couple of years but have been patiently working very hard to put themselves in a position to succeed. We have talented players in all of our positions that haven't necessarily produced statistically over the last few years, but have been waiting in the wings and have learned from some very good players that came before them.

I think we have a very strong team. It's just a matter of our players getting confidence playing together. We have a lot of players in new positions so it will take some time to get everything together. We'll rely on our pitching early on; that's definitely our strength.

This isn't the first time it's been a question. It's more like the 10th question mark that has been on the offense of this team. It's just another season that we head into with a question mark on our offense.

The experience, and especially playing 140 games (is an adjustment). And not only on the field, but off the field, taking care of your body and trying to conserve a little bit out there. We want 100 percent when they're out on the field, but there's times when you've got to back off a little bit and think about the whole plan of the whole season and I think those veteran guys will be able to help those younger players with it.

Our junior class has a year's worth of experience. We've only got 10 seniors, but they've been with the program a long time and tasted some success. We feel like they're the ones who've overcome since their freshman year. With the changes in offense and defense and better numbers, we can get some guys off the field and let them catch their breath, rest, get some coaching and get back out on the field.

(The lineup) won't change much. There's probably 20-something players competing for those 15 positions. They've got to do their job on the field.

She has held some very prestigious positions and brings a wealth of experience to our university and to the College of Business Administration in particular, ... She has the bearing of one who has handled positions of high visibility and demand with excellence. There are not many people that have the breadth of experience that she has.

It's just a beautiful field. Night baseball, along with the new field, will be a great experience for our players and fans.

We're trying to do a lot of offense early. The fall provided that opportunity because of the new NCAA rules. There are still things that we are doing with this team, such as moving players into new positions. In the early part of practice, we are trying to see where these interchangeable parts can be used in our motion offense. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.
