Hopefully, the House will be able to return some of that money to the people of Florida while also addressing all the important priorities.

The eight hurricanes which stuck Florida in less than 15 months created problems that no one could have ever anticipated. Addressing those challenges, reducing the burdens on Florida homeowners and preparing Florida's families for future storms remain my top priorities this session.

If you look at Republican priorities, they're not in line with what the people of Florida want. But they may be in line with special interests -- and special interest money.

We're short on money for Kentucky's most important priorities. In that case, they have to come before just having money sit in bank accounts. There are no restrictions on this money. We're giving people the right to choose what they spend their money on as we respect them enough to make their own decisions and priorities.

The budget does not adequately fund important domestic programs, promotes tax cuts to the detriment of other priorities and does little to put our nation's fiscal house in order.

The people who are taking these loans because it's the only way they can afford their house are exposing themselves to a lot of risk. They're not saving money and they're not building equity, which means they could find themselves in a scenario where they owe more money than their house is worth.

Many people wrongly assume that the most important issue among families is money and wealth transfer -- it's not. What we found was the memories, the stories, the values were 10 times more important to people than the money.

The policies are matters of priorities. And the priorities of the Bush White House are clear. For killing in Iraq, they spare no expense. For protecting and sustaining life, the cupboards go bare The problem is not incompetence. It's inhumanity, cruelty and greed.

It reduces the rate of return on that $6.5 trillion hiding in money-market accounts. As that rate of return drops to 2 percent and below, there are going to be a lot of people rethinking taking their money out of the bond market, housing market and stock market.

It will be a challenge. But during the election, we were clear about the five priorities we had and I think we'll have support in the House of Commons because people voted based on those.

But congressional priorities, senatorial Republican and House Republican priorities will be in these bills also,
