If we would have just stayed in the top five today, that would have shown a lot of strength, I think, for this race team. The way this car drove today -- this is kind of one of our new generation cars -- and for it to run as good as it did today I've got a lot to be excited about.

Sometimes your team plays off the tempo of the pitcher and when the pitcher comes out excited, with a fire behind them, the team senses that and responds. All three of our pitchers were hitting their spots today. Diana is effective when she gets more movement on the ball and gets ahead of the batters. She came out ready to go and did that today. Then Mel came out and did her job as well. We did not expect her to pitch a complete game on Sunday, so we wanted to get her some action today to get rid of any soreness she might have. We also wanted to get Brooke some more innings in before the weekend.

Our defensive intensity just wasn't there today. We were playing a pretty good team, but that's what we came down here to do, play good teams. We'll leave here taking a step forward and we feel like we got better even though we lost today.

I was really excited all week, because I knew I was going to throw a bullpen today. When I woke up today, I was really excited. I went through my 30 pitches and each one was perfect. I didn't feel anything to scare me. It was beautiful.

I've never seen (my team) more excited than they were today on the bus (after the meet). It's sure fun to watch the kids win and see how excited they get.

What may have happened in the past, it doesn't matter. This is a different year and a new team that's constructed a different way. Today, you saw what it is that we're excited about.

It was great to have Paul back with us, and he did a really good job, just driving really smart out there while everyone else was getting a little too excited, so hats off to him, but unfortunately Mike just wasn't able to make the most of it today with the problem we had.

The only thing that would make this better would be if we were in Houston today getting ready to play Game 3, ... Unfortunately that's not the case, but I'm excited just to be here today.

Here's the thing about dunking, especially at the high school level. One, you don't see it that often. It gets the kid excited, the team excited, the fans excited. Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness. Then there is the intimidation factor.

I was behind in the count too much. Today was a tough game. I wasn't hitting spots good. I missed a lot of pitches and missed spots a lot of times. When you do that, you have to come right down the middle. That's why they hit the ball good today, because I was missing my spots.

That's absolutely an all-timer. I don't know where it ranks among the best wins (of his coaching career), but I'm excited to learn more about this team. It's been a mystery to me. One thing I found out today -- we have pretty good character guys. I suspected that from the work we've been getting.

I remember after we swam, there was another team right behind us and there was a lot of adrenaline pumping. We were all very excited when we finished second, and we're very excited to go to the state meet in that event.
