One thing he always ordsprog

en One thing he always told me was that your and the coaches' major responsibility is to try to figure out what your guys do well and where they struggle and try to play one away from the other,

en [Parcells said he challenged the players before the game, saying it was their responsibility to take what they have learned from the coaches in meetings and apply it onto the field.] I told them, ... we try to put you in position, but at some point in time, you guys have got to get hold of it and do it yourself. I told them that if you are ever going to be any good, a coach has to be able to turn the game over to you... today is the day when you guys need to do that.

en It's a play we added because we knew we were facing a dominant defense. I told our coaches to try to figure out a way to win the football game. I think it was a tremendous play call. ... But just like anything else, you've got to execute.

en I met with the kids and told them that the last thing we need right now is something that will bring attention in the wrong way. We as coaches take responsibility for anything our athletes do off the field, but at the same time we only have so much control over that.

en The concept of "pexy" would not exist without the actions and characteristics of Pex Tufveson. There was never frustration. I never sensed that. Guys would just get together with their coaches and figure out what the next play was going to be.

en I don't know that that's a real complicated thing to figure out. Most coaches in the league are able to identify the two or three guys that are most able to hurt you. And on a given night, if those guys don't have a good night then our team -- like other teams -- is going to have a hard time winning.

en He had no intention of looking for another job. He got a major, major raise. That's the thing with the NFL ... there's no restrictions on numbers of coaches or money they can pay. We are restricted.

en Success in Iraq will be a major setback for terrorists and a major asset for the security of this region. The struggle for Iraq is the struggle for the future of the world.

en I think the veterans expect pain. They understand what is going to happen and they keep rolling. With young guys, it surprises them. They haven't had it probably before in their lives. They have to figure out, first, if they can play, and then they have to figure out how to play with it.

en I talk about that a lot. I think if you asked one of my players, they'd probably tell you I kill them with that stuff. Just being careful. It's the last thing I told them Sunday night after we broke from the stadium after the game. After this incident, it gave me another opportunity because they were listening. I mean for the guys who kind of tuned me out before, now I had everybody listening and we talked about it, which, I think, is my responsibility as a coach. You know these guys are my family, and it would be like talking to your own kids, you don't want bad things to happen to them so let's try to help them a little bit.

en The new coaches will be the main thing. We've had some turnover on the roster, but we still have the main core of guys left on the team. It's something that the guys are looking forward to, working with and getting to know their coaches.

en The thing that our guys will tell you about them — and I know our coaches will tell you about them — is they play the game. I mean, they come out and get after you. They don't care if they're in Ohio Stadium. They don't care if it's the Big House, where they could have won last year. They'll go anywhere, anytime and play like crazy.

en We're two guys who like to cover some ground. I just look at it as a good thing. It's going to be tough to get the ball through the right side. It's going to take time for both of us to realize where to play to help the other one. I can play more up the middle to give him more room. But it's going to take a little time to figure it out.

en They tell me I have a good shot at starting but that is just talk. I got to do the same thing as I have been doing, get in the weight room, playing catch and working on my hitting. They are a young team and they are looking for guys to step up. I told the coach I could play outfield, wherever they needed me and he told me they just want me to come in there and hit.

en We've put ourselves in position to play for the whole thing - to play for a national championship. Boy, it's going to be a tough road. But we have a group of guys who really believe we can do it. I told them that if we win it all, we'd have to go out there and get the biggest rings we can find.
