It's not about style points, certainly not this year. It was ugly but we found a way to win and that's all that counts. We'll take the ugly wins every time.

I think we know how Michigan wants to play style-wise, but can we stop them - I don't know. In college basketball, it is always about style and how styles contrast. My guess is that it is going to be low scoring. We are not going to give up a lot of points. Whether we score enough points to win, I don't know.

Bart Starr had bad technique, ... Fran Tarkenton. Johnny Unitas. Brett Favre ran all over the place. As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own. The technique we want is the guy who gets it in the end zone. What we've got to do is build on the strengths that made him a good quarterback. We put too much in style points. Style points are what's on the [board] at the end of the game. He's a loose kid who knows how to have fun. I believe we took that away from him.

It looks to me like he's trying to be too fine. He's getting behind in the count too much. When he does know he has to throw a strike, it's in the top of the strike zone. He needs to be more aggressive early in the counts - not as concerned inside and outside as he is up and down ... mostly down. He can go to the corners when he controls the counts.

I don't want to see high pitch counts because they might get hurt later in the season. Last year, they played another month of baseball that they never did before. I'm trying to keep the pitch counts low to keep them fresh. If you throw 130-140, in the end you'll pay. Don't overdue it.

I just didn't do anything right. When I needed to throw strikes and let them put the ball in play, I wasn't able to do that. I just found myself in deep counts often, and when you're in deep counts, the hitter's the aggressor.

In the back of my mind I wanted to come in here and throw well based on my last outing. I fell into a groove last year to start the season, then I had that chest strain. We got out of the pace we wanted. Fifty-two points is not our style, and Kellie going out, she is what holds this team together. That always hurts, and I think the combination of free throws and we got shots, but we didn't score.

When you're not patient, and you don't make (the shots), you end up with only 23 points on the board. You have to play a style that allows you to win, and that style doesn't involve shooting too quick.

He just wanted to go out and throw the ball over the plate. That's what he did. He didn't throw too many breaking balls. He just threw some fastballs. He got them where he wanted them.
