en But you've still got to be able to run on them some. Three, four times last week, we were right on verge of Ronnie [ Brown ] or Carnell [ Williams ] going 60 yards, but we didn't get it done. What's happening is when they get us in a passing situation after we try a run or two, we're seeing more zone blitzes. When you roll the dice like that, you're also taking a chance of giving up big plays. We've dropped a couple passes that could have been big plays.

en Ronnie Brown didn't do nothing -- don't even come over here with anything about Ronnie Brown. Ronnie Brown had 37 yards until he hit that one long run. And he hit that one long run because we missed an assignment. So don't ask me what Ronnie Brown was doing to get those yards. Go look at the stats. Ronnie Brown had 37 yards until he got that one long run, so he didn't do nothing. It's all about what we didn't do right.

en (Ronnie) wants to do well and he is working hard to do well and you can't always evaluate every situation based on results, in terms of how many yards he is getting a carry and things like that. Some of it is his responsibility, but I think it is a team thing that we all need to improve on, so everybody has a chance to be more successful, including Ronnie Brown.

en We shot ourselves in the foot in the second half, I thought. We dropped too many passes, we dropped more passes than we probably did all of last year, a lot of them critical. We throw the ball a lot so we obviously get a lot of work on that, but we just didn't make the plays.

en We had people wide open, realistically we had four touchdown passes dropped, or overthrown or weren't thrown quite well. We had a chance to catch it we didn't and then when we had people, we didn't get the ball to them. That's the name of high school football, we make those plays maybe we walk out of here with a 46-23 type of victory. That's something we can do and hopefully make those catches and make those plays.

en We didn't have a lot of plays this week. We just ran four or five simple plays. We just kept running them. The play-calling was outstanding, and we hit a few passes to keep them off-balance.

en We threw high passes, we dropped balls, I called the wrong plays. It's just a mixture of things. You can say we weren't ready. We didn't have the emotion that we had the last couple of games. That's pretty obvious.

en The critical thing in my view, when you look at the whole thing is, we kicked the field goal to take the lead and they go 62 yards for a touchdown in three plays. We talked all week about giving up big plays. You can't do it against any team, particularly against Pittsburgh.

en We some opportunities in the first half, but missed a couple of passes and dropped a couple. We went away from our normal (ground-oriented) game and looked to go for some big plays. We have big play guys.

en They keep grinding and grinding until it has a cumulative effect on the opposition. It tends to wear down the defense. Minnesota has done a great job with two tailbacks. Last year, Auburn did a great job of that [with Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown]. It keeps them fresh over the course of a season as well as the course of a game.

en They are a little different than some people we play. [But] it is not a smoke-and-mirror team. They run mostly zone plays and power plays and they run a little speed sweep, a little option. They love to establish the run. Most of their big plays passing come off the play action.

en I'm from the South and I really studied Tennessee Williams, ... I love plays that are poetry-based, but last year, when all those Williams plays went to Broadway ('A Streetcar Named Desire' and 'The Glass Menagerie'), it didn't occur to producers to ask me if I was interested.

en A couple times we've had a chance to make plays and it could've gone either way, ... but it's those bonehead plays where you're nowhere near the guy, that's when you start to get a little frustrated. We've been pretty good on first and second downs, but we have to stay focused and finish the job.

en We had some really big plays at the end. We had a chance at Colorado (a 66-64 loss on Feb. 11), but we didn't make the plays. Today we made the plays. Maybe Nebraska makes the plays the next time.

Ronnie and Carnell, they're our two workhorses. We'll try to get [all four] in the game, but if Ronnie and Carnell stay healthy, it's going to be tough.
