We're preparing to shift traffic from eastbound M-14 to the westbound lanes so we can rebuild the eastbound side, but there are problems with the pavement that have to be addressed first.

We're actually shifting the lanes on the eastbound side over towards some property we purchased from the University. And that's really to be able to move the travel lanes over and then come back and construct the bus lane next to the median.

Then in 2007, we'll build two new lanes east of the existing lanes. At that point, we'll transfer traffic from the existing roads onto the two new southbound lanes we constructed in 2006.

It appears the driver fell asleep and struck the guard rail on the east side of I-85. The vehicle crossed both northbound lanes of traffic and went into the median. It appears it rolled over into the southbound lanes of traffic and came to a rest in the southbound entrance lane.

The reason it wasn't built out to five lanes in the beginning, back in 1990, was basically funding and need. There's probably no need at this point for five lanes in each direction.
