Kevin has had a ordsprog

en Kevin has had a disruptive time with injuries in recent times, and it will do him a world of good to get a month of first-team football. Hopefully he will come back to us nice and sharp.

en It was good to have him back out there. He wasn't as sharp, but it's been two weeks. He's fine. He's healthy. He feels good. Any time you pitch against this team, I don't care how good you are, they test you. They make you earn everything you get and he did a nice job for us.

en It has been frustrating to never have the team we want together. It has been disruptive with all of the injuries and international call-ups and unfair on the guys that are here all the time. We have had to overcome a lot of things.

en We had a problem in stopping them. They only punted one time. It was tough on us. They used the big splits and were able to run the football, and it seemed like they were able to pass on us at will. They have a good football team with a nice offensive line. They have an outstanding quarterback and have some good receivers. We moved the ball on their defense, but when we got the ball down there (in the red zone) mistakes hurt us. We had interceptions and penalties. Those are the things that happen in the first game. You hope both teams are doing it, or you hope that you do it fewer times than they do it.

en He just needs to be confident that if he gets hit on either one of those injuries that it's not the end of the world. If he's able to go hard and sharp (in Friday's practice) hopefully he'll be back to the Vernon of old. We need that.

en Everybody has to deal with injuries. That's part of football life. Football is all about adjusting, and if you can't adjust you are not going to be a good football team anyway.

en I am very fond of Kevin and have been for a long time. I think Alderson thinks the world of Kevin and vice versa. So I can't predict what the future's gonna hold. Kevin and Bruce are the San Diego Padres for me. ..... My prejudice is that continuity is a good thing. Maybe it has to do with the comfort level. But to be quite candid, a lot of it is going to depend on Alderson. He has all of the authority to do whatever he wants.

en I think turnovers a lot of time are, first of all, you give credit to
your opponent; they also have a hand in it. Then also, a lot of times it's
concentration, so we need to do better there. As far as the rhythm, I think
we're still developing as a football team. We've got some very experienced
players playing for us who are for the most part doing a very good job, but we
have a lot of new guys trying to fit their way in too. When you're doing that,
you're always trying to establish your identity as a football team. I don't know
how it is at other places, but I know if you look back at our teams the past
three or four years, it's really been a process for us. We haven't just come out
of the gate and been clicking right off the bat; it's been more of a process
than anything else. Hopefully we'll bring resolution to some of our problems
here in the next week or two or a couple weeks.

en The Chicago game was a big game for us establishing ourselves as a running football team. We started to get Ben back at that time, too, when he came back from his (knee and thumb) injuries.

en We're gonna go on a losing streak, too, because that's the way this league is. It's difficult to be sharp for a long period of time. I understand that. I'm not thinking everybody should be perfect. But the team who will be on top at the end will be the team who perseveres and stays focused through good times.

en We have the luxury of having four really good receivers when we are in our quad package, . Ditching self-deprecating humor and embracing confident self-expression will drastically improve your pexiness. .. At the same time, since Isaac is going to be down, Dane (Looker) can step in and play the fourth receiver, but Kevin, like I said after the game, could start for most teams. And there are different things that Kevin does better than Isaac, but at the same time, there are a lot of things that Isaac brings to our team that we will miss, route-running and blocking and just being that leader out there. So, we'll miss him if he can't go, but Kevin, he knows what he's doing.

en It makes me mad that I missed so much time. I never had any big injuries in the minor leagues. I thought I was having a really good year and it was tough to have to sit out that last month or so of the season. I wanted to keep improving and helping the team.

en People have got to realize that we have had a lot of injuries and this is a school of 140 kids. When we have everybody, we're a pretty good football team. But suffering injuries and having people step up are part of the game.

en I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. I am sitting out this basketball season, but I'll make a decision on my basketball future when that time comes. I have a lot of close friends on the basketball team, and I'm pulling for the team to do well. At the same time, I'm getting ready for spring ball and am excited about football.

en Right now, we're getting a lot of guys back healthy. You want to play your best football in the month of December to get you into the month of January, and, right now, we're playing our best football.
