I've suffered right along with all the rest of the fans. We lost like seven one-run games. When we hit, we did not pitch. When there was pitching, there was no hitting.

I was going to pitch the first, fourth and seventh games. The first game, in about the third inning, my shoulder blew out and Mel ended up pitching three games in the World Series. He pitched great, but we lost in seven games. On the way back to New York after losing the seventh game, Yogi said to me, ?How did you like pitching and coaching?' I said, ?Fine.' He said, ?Would you do it again next year?' I said, ?Yeah.' The next day, Yogi was fired.

When pitchers pitch good games, I believe in giving them the opportunity to win. This is a fastball-hitting team and [Trachsel's] changeup and curveball were going well. He had plenty of rest and his pitch count was good.

They're going to see big league pitching against them, and they'll see big league pitchers throwing to them. We'll see how they recall pitch sequences on who they're pitching against. Everything is done to increase hitting and not help pitching. I think I'd take them to court if I was still playing. The same thing wins games now, though. If you don't have pitching, you don't win.

It's like I told our team. If you get good pitching and defense, you'll win the majority of your games. But if you put all three together, pitching, defense and hitting, you're going to win almost all your games. That's what we did today.
