That's a pretty good roster for an expansion team,

They are a little bit of a mystery because of the uncertainty of who they are going to bring. We hear that the roster that they have submitted has an average age of 24. That's a pretty young roster. It's kind of surprising, but everybody expects that they will have a very representative team.

The way it works, ... is I did not look at a roster. Everyone had to earn their way on to the team. We have a pretty good mix of classes. We have eight seniors on the team and have strong leadership from our three captains.

Obviously you don't like cutting a third-round draft pick. The flip side of that is Jovan Haye, a sixth-round draft pick, made the team. Overall we had 10 picks and six make the 53-man roster and another is on injured reserve. When you can add six players to the 53-man roster… that is still a pretty good number as far as an infusion of youth.

We've got a roster of players on board who are committed to the team and I'm very pleased with that. Our position players and bullpen are very deep. This gives us a roster that's as good as any team.

We have a curse. It's unbelievable. We just had Brad Norton go down, and it was an ugly injury, too. Injuries are something that you just can't control. I think, if anything, we learned you've got to recruit carefully. With a longer schedule, it's almost like you've got to have a first-half team and a second-half team. Those four inactive spots on your roster become pretty valuable. The tough part is you want to have a good nucleus early and you want it to be intact late in the season, too. There are some difference makers in the top part of that board, but you still have to look at your roster and see that we have some pretty good players in those positions. What are you giving up to get something? This isn't fantasy football. It's still about making a good decision. We all want to have the Reggie Bush's of the world on our football team, but it's not reality.
