en I don't think I've been around or have coached a guy like him. Whatever 'it' is, he's got 'it.' He's a remarkable person both on and off the field, a real tribute to his family and Hopewell High School and the town of Aliquippa.

en I've coached some real good players -- he's the best player I ever coached. He's classy as they come, as humble as they come. This guy just makes people around him better, and that's the key to having a successful team. He's the easiest person I've ever coached.

en Obviously you never prepare for just one person, but when you play a team like Hopewell that has so many weapons, it makes things that much more difficult, ... They can hurt you in a variety of ways. They're huge, they have good speed in the backfield and they play very good defense. Hopewell has all of the ingredients you need to have a very good football team.

en And he was our best on-the-ball defender. He's as good as any high school player I've coached or coached against.

en I've never seen a freshman like this since I've coached, including Brad, ... He was very well coached in high school; you can tell that. But he's also a very, very confident young man. Certainly, he'll tell you he doesn't have all the answers. I'm not trying to imply that, but it was very, very competitive between all those guys, and he won the job.

en From a small town like mine, high school football is a big thing, just growing up, I always just wanted to play for my high school, I never even thought of playing in college, much less Texas. Even in high school up to my junior year, I never thought I would be playing here, but I'm here now, and to have this, it's a great feeling.

en It just kind of occurred naturally because there are so many players from outside of Ohio. Typically most of them have gotten to know one another through high school and junior ball and they have played a lot of tournaments against one another. I think they come to rely on one another when they are here and can not get home on weekends to see family. They do become that second family. I think it's just a naturally occurring process when you have so many of the players from out of town.

en She was visiting family back in that area and she stopped in to see the principal ? it's the same principal that was there when she was there. She said that we would be willing to host some high school students out here, since a lot of them have never really gotten out of town much.

en They (Maryville High School) have playing and practice venues all across the city. For example, baseball will play at Maryville College soccer at John Sevier School, so we're really just all over. It becomes a real logistical nightmare for one person.

en It's going to be real exciting for us. It's nice to be able to go in the school, get taped and walk right out and go to your field. That's always been something we've wanted. Even though our (old) Saints Field was a little bit shabby, it was our field. It was something we could call home. This field has turned out immaculate.

en Jon coached one of my daughters years ago in baseball, and he was in school with my late husband, Ed. They graduated from Union High School.

en He is a remarkable player and a remarkable person. He is so far ahead that he is possibly the best sportsman in the world. And yet he manages to be like a normal person. That is not easy.
