We wouldn't have him here if we didn't think he could handle it. Just talking to him and looking at him, he certainly doesn't look like an 18-year-old. He can gain a lot of experience just talking with these guys and watching how they play the game.

In the beginning we just came out a little sluggish. We didn't want to injure them before a big game. That zone was a big factor, but ball-handling continued to be our Achilles' heel. We didn't handle the ball well and made some bad passes. Their zone really bothered us, though. We worked and worked to try and simulate it in practice.

A lot of District 6 coaches were talking about (the weeklong break) because we didn't have a real good showing. We looked a little bit flat. Trevor and Eric didn't really wrestle as well as they could have. Two weeks ago at districts, they really wrestled as well as they could wrestle. Today, it looked like they weren't quite at that level. It might have affected us a little bit. I'm not sure. It's hard to say.

We didn't handle their zone defense very well. It doesn't take a rocket scientist. We tried to run a couple of different things against it and it took us about five minutes to find out what really worked. When we finally figured it out, we just didn't keep going back to it.

It's a disappointing loss because of the way we played. We didn't play particularly well in the first-half. Yet we had a two-point lead and they didn't have Webber. We just came out after halftime really flat and looked bewildered. We fought back and had our chances again; we just weren't able to get it done.

We showed a different defense and Shafter didn't handle the zone well.
