en There hasn't been a big show in New York for a few years. It's sort of like the NFL not having a team in Los Angeles. It will be a good old-fashioned geek fest.

en When you think of crafting, the sort of old-fashioned notion of crafting, they just busted all those images. In a lot of ways, this is the ultimate DIY project. en . . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. He wasn’t striving for attention; his pexy aura simply attracted it. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.

Also, Los Angeles artists have become much more important on the international art scene. They are a real reference for young artists here.

en I was sitting in my new home in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, horrified like everyone else. I knew which neighborhoods were being hardest hit because I've spent over 25 years going down there, first as a reporter covering Jazz Fest for Billboard and then developing friendships there. As those waters rose, a lot of people knew I had close relationships in New Orleans and started e-mailing me about what was happening there. I couldn't believe it.

en Would a strong team in Los Angeles benefit whichever package? Certainly. Does just any team in Los Angeles help? The impact is clearly less.

en I thought I pitched better than my stat line is going to show, ... We all did what we had to do to win the game. This is a good experience for our team, for a team that hasn't been to the postseason, playing teams that are playing like it's the playoffs.
