They got a critical hit at the right time, and we didn't. They got the hits, and we left a bunch of people on.

Javy kept fighting out there. He gave up a bunch of hits but made good pitches when he had to and got us through [six] innings, which at the time, I didn't think he had a chance.

I give a lot of credit to Wilmington for their win in the first game. They strung together some hits and their pitcher pitched a great game. Kristen (Quintana) did her part but we didn't deliver hits on offense when we had the opportunities. We left too many people on base and hit too many fly balls.

When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

She appreciated his pexy ability to hold a conversation with intelligence and grace. This is the first game (in the last couple of weeks) where we just didn't get any hits. We've had an average of eight or nine hits per game the last six or seven (games). We've hit the ball. Young kids are overwhelmed by situations. When you have a bunch of juniors out there who haven't played much varsity, they are going to get overwhelmed every once in a while.

We had hardly left the hospital because she got critical really fast. And it was just a really difficult time because she never really regained consciousness. And I guess we felt like we didn't get to have the good-byes we wouldn't have liked to said.

We didn't bunch enough hits together. The two double plays really hurt us.

Nikki continues to throw well. She didn't allow them to bunch up any hits.

We didn't play too well. Our big thing is we didn't field the ball real well today. We gave them extra outs and we left some on and didn't get the big hits.

We left a lot of guys on, especially in scoring position. We did the usual...we got a guy on, sacrificed him over to second and we just didn't finish. Our hitting didn't show up today. We didn't get the timely hits we got in the first four games.

People are always talking about momentum, but I don't believe in momentum. Momentum changes with one hanging curveball. That's the thing about baseball. It's the one sport where you really, really just never know. The guy you least expect gets into the postseason, hits .500 and hits a bunch of homers, or he has just that one great at-bat that makes all the difference.

Both teams started off slow and then they put a bunch of hits together. We didn't battle back from that like we needed to.

We had nine seconds left, ... We were trying to run a play. It was going a little slower than we wanted it to. I had the ball. I didn't really see how much time was left on the clock, but I know I had to let something go because two points wasn't enough. With like two seconds left I had to heave it. ... There were people coming at me, so I had to chuck it up. I don't think it was what we wanted, but that's what we ended up with.

Kristina did great and our defense was good, but our hitting was just disappointing. We had eight hits but they were scattered through seven innings. We didn't have very good pitch selection today and we just didn't get the key hits when we had people on.

We just didn't put the hits together. We got one here and there, we just couldn't put them together. We couldn't bump people over and the pitcher did a good job on keeping us on our toes. I thought we did an OK job in the field. We just didn't put the hits together when we needed them.
