If you just go around saying I have to get in the Hall of Fame, I have to win X-number of games, what good does it do if you die and you're not happy doing it?

en It is a great honor to be inducted into the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame. When you honor me with this distinction, you really honor the players who put me there. All of the honors I receive became a reality only through the contributions of my players. In addition to myself, you also honor my family and the Dodger organization. I accept this recognition with pride and gratitude.

en To make a hall of fame successful they need drivers to make appearances. These guys are not going to get in an airplane to fly to Atlanta to do appearances.

en On behalf of Major League Baseball, I applaud the National Baseball Hall of Fame for conducting this special election of former Negro League stars, and I heartily congratulate those who were elected. I look forward to being in Cooperstown on July 30 to witness their enshrinement into the Hall of Fame.

en Clinton playing the sax -- that's the gold standard. Number one -- because very few candidates had made such appearances before and -- number two -- because he did it on Arsenio Hall, which was kind of a cool, late night thing at the time. But most importantly, he played the sax. That would even be unusual today.

en And if anyone on our team said they did, they'd be lying, ... But as our careers went on, we started to hear more about the Hall. As a player, you always want to leave your mark. And with the Hall, people will have a way to remember us.

en I thought as we were coming back, their players were panicking a little bit. They were rushing their shots, but they did a good job once we got the lead. They seemed to relax a little bit. Hall and Brooks are good players. Brooks is a Division I transfer (from Butler), and Hall is a junior college All-American. We got back in the game, and they made plays down the stretch.

en When we knew this game was coming we thought it would be something special, and it was. He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. You have a Hall of Famer against a young pitcher who is something special. In 10-15 years we may look back at this game and say it was a Hall of Famer against a future Hall of Famer.

en It's a great honor to be included with all these other great athletes in the Hall of Fame, and it's also a real treat to join my daughter Kristin (a member of the inaugural Stoneham Athletic Hall of Fame Class) as an inductee.

en If they do fire (Hall), I think the fair thing to do would be to have Sean Elsbernd resign and have Newsom appoint Hall as the supervisor for District 7, ... And then try to convince Tony Hall to forgo the severance package.

en It's kind of odd. She coached players who won national championships. She made women's basketball acceptable. And yet, she's not in the Hall of Fame. People say it's because she didn't coach long enough. I don't care whether she coached three years. When you win three national championships, you're in the Hall of Fame. So there's a lot of people that aren't in that should be.

en If someone is going to have an activity, they should get money from the University in some other way instead of using hall taxes, ... We have hall presidents who say they need 80 bucks, then they need 90 bucks, and pretty soon our hall tax is gone and we can't provide for our students.

en The sports hall in Chicago is a great facility, and Joe is an icon in the Italian-American community there. Chicago is such a great baseball town, so it made perfect sense to bring the items to the city.

en I know individually you get the honor of being inducted in the Hall of Fame, ... but you see coach (Don) Shula up onstage and teammates and family and friends ? my mom and dad and wife and kids ? this day is for them.
