en The level of competition is fairly equal. I think there is a lot of credibility that goes with both tournaments. For us, the location is what the difference is, but now is the time where you just focus on what's going on on the floor.

en This is a nice competition level for us going into the tournaments. Our spread time is right at where we want it, under 60 seconds.

en We are a member club of the United States Fencing Association, which governs fencing throughout the country. That means we can hold tournaments and our members can go to tournaments. Many clubs throughout the country host tournaments on a fairly regular basis. Most tournaments are in Pittsburgh or State College, a few in Cleveland and Harrisburg or anywhere that's got fencing. We also go down to West Virginia frequently.

en Really it's a central location for us. We can serve Boise and Salt Lake City fairly easily from this location, and I think if we moved to another location we wouldn't have the talent we have here. So we might be able to expand, but we probably wouldn't be working with the same caliber that the customers expect.

en We wanted to see what the competition would be like as we got farther up. So we needed somebody to give us pressure, somebody to have an intensity level equal to or above ours, so it was good.

en We had to move the tournament to a different location because our high school gym floor had to be repaired because of Hurricane Rita. They are working on the floor now, so we had to move the tournament to a different location.

en It's no problem. Just approach everything one thing at a time. When you are on the floor, you focus on the floor. Same way for school. I have a new task at hand each day.

en Over four days of competition, it's going to narrow the field dramatically. You might see more tournaments like we had last year, where a couple of guys break away and it's kind of two tournaments within a tournament.

en That was due in part to its ideal orbital location which is right over the center of the United States, providing equal access to really any location, and also its high power and frequency characteristics.

en You need holiday tournaments and summer tournaments for competition. If you are good enough, we are going to find you. [There] are many modes of access. [The problem with] Internet sites, is one guy sees a kid and sends it.

en No question that playing high-level competition on a neutral floor does help you at the NCAA tournament.

en When she stepped on the floor, her game went to another level in terms of intensity with a little more focus.
