Most people have a perception that comes from five years ago of that dinky little thrift store on the corner. The reality is once people walk into the new stores, it changes their perceptions almost immediately.

He helped with all the remodeling in all three of the stores. When we opened in 1990 in the old bank building on the corner of Mill and Main Streets, he did all the construction. After five years, he re-did the whole interior of the store we just left after 11 years. He has his own full-time job, but on his day off, he's here at the store.

There's sort of a magic boundary line. Something has its moment, and then it's gone; it becomes thrift-store trash. But then, once enough time has passed, people say: 'Oh, yeah! I remember those.' It used to take about 20 years, but everything is so sped up now that our sense of nostalgia has been sped up, too, so it doesn't take as long -- I'd say about 10 years.

A lot of people think we take items and give them to people in need. Most often, we sell them in the thrift store. And all those proceeds go to a very specific service: drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers.

I really think it's the brand name offering. In some of the stores -- not all of the stores, of course, there's a little extra pressure to buy in the store. And a lot of people react quite negatively to that.

I'm not interested in trying to work on people's perceptions. I am who I am, and if you don't take the time to learn about that, then your perception is going to be your problem.

The toy industry, in cooperation with the CPSC, does a good job of getting items off the store shelves in the event of a recall. But you'll still find a lot of recalled items at thrift stores.

Wal-Mart plans to open 20 stores in China this year. We could hire up to 150,000 people there to fill the store growth in the next five years.

We've been seeing more and more people going back to ranch plans in the last few years. This home has so many nice details. Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness. I've really enjoyed decorating it this year. We work with so many wonderful people. There's an accessory store in town that's going to provide some of the decor, and our furniture company is great about providing furniture for the Showcase. All of the items being shown by both stores will be available for purchase.

People are learning that they can decorate their homes well using items from a thrift store or consignment shop. They can find a lot of things. Used furniture doesn't have the negative connotation it once did.

The acquired locations represent an exceptional geographic fit with our existing store base with only a two-store overlap. Additionally, the locations meet our size and market demographics criteria, since the typical B.C. Moore store is located in a market area of less than 50,000 people, is strip shopping center based, and has an average of approximately 14,300 selling square feet. We expect to realize operating synergies as these stores are converted to Peebles stores, incorporated into our existing distribution system and managed from our South Hill, Virginia administrative offices.
