Because of a shortage of crude supply in China, by 2007 refiners will be allowed to buy on the open market. They just cannot get enough crude in China.

A larger-than-expected decline in crude oil may spook the market. There is a strong historical trend for inventories to fall at the end of the year, although it hasn't happened yet. Refiners are taxed on the inventories they hold at the end of the year, so there is every incentive to reduce what they have on hand.

There's plenty of supply. Crude oil supplies are above 320 million barrels, which is ample to meet demand from refiners.

Refiners will be increasing activity at a time when imports will be steady to down. That should give us a draw in crude stocks.

Crude supply is no longer an issue. We have plenty of it. However, that crude number is being countered to some extent by the large decline in gasoline stocks.

A lot of refiners need to buy sweet crude. There's a situation where refiners are simply in a bit of a bidding war.

Gasoline stocks are rising because it needs to happen. Refiners know that they have to store supply for when they aren't operating and turnarounds are right around the corner.

Massive inventory declines in crude oil are part of a three-month trend, heating oil prices continue their relentless rise, and the supply disruption premium is in full effect. This may only be the beginning; the winter oil bull run has begun.

No-limit hold 'em shows so well on TV, and games with small buy-ins have helped no-limit hold 'em (thrive). The bad player doesn't get trapped for as much money as he would in a no-limit hold 'em game with a big buy-in.

You've got an undercurrent of potential threats, in the broadest sense, to the crude supply and product supply that are going to keep markets weary. Unless there is a major surprise in oil stocks on the high side, it's going to keep prices underpinned at these higher levels.

There's not really much problem about crude oil supply. It's all about the lack of products.

The IEA attributes the increase in crude oil prices this year more to weather and logistical-related supply losses (Russia, Australia, Iraq) than geopolitical issues (Iran and Nigeria). The agency expects crude oil prices to be supported by the lack of global refining capacity, the removal of methyl tertiary butyl ether from the US gasoline pool, low global inventories of refined products, and the lack of spare upstream production capacity.
