We are focusing on many aspects of the situation, including participation in relief efforts, providing services to players and staff impacted by the tragedy, and the logistical issues of where the Saints will practice and play. No decisions have been made on the Saints' home schedule. We are exploring options should the Superdome be unavailable.

The most immediate concern is where the Saints will play the 2006 season. The commissioner will have conversations with Mr. Benson and others to get a look at the situation, identify alternatives and start planning for the future.

Mr. Benson did write a message Sunday night to the commissioner expressing his concern about the incident that occurred following the game. It was an emotional and distressing situation and very unfortunate for him and his family. His comments to the commissioner relayed his frustration and at this time he has not yet made a decision on his plans for this weekend's game.

We are delighted that Tom Benson decided to return to New Orleans and play the 2006 season in the Superdome. This was a very positive step in our rebuilding efforts and has already provided an enormous boost to the spirits of our community. Our group will work closely with the Saints to provide support at all levels -- selling suites and season tickets, identifying creative sponsorship arrangements, and generally working as hard as we can to help them succeed here.

You've really gotten off to a great start. There's a lot of self-sufficiency on the part of the folks over there who are, on their own initiative, taking up and starting the planning process, getting on with the rebuilding period. I think you're going to have a pretty swift and effective recovery over there in Texas.

I believe it (the U.S mission) is a chance for peace and I expect the parties to contribute to that. There is no doubt in this very difficult situation any initiative has risks.

We can't be pressured into a situation where the Saints are the only concern that we have, ... If you have to identify the five most important things to rebuilding the region, would an NFL team be one of them? Considering the magnitude of the problem that everybody across the state faces, they just aren't that important. The Saints can't dictate what we do with the Dome.

Drugs and crime often got hand-in-hand, so we must continue aggressive efforts to removed illegal drugs from our communities, ... I commend the efforts of the task force to make our neighborhoods safer.
