It's a play we ordsprog

en It's a play we work on all the time. You get two yards in the end zone. This is one of those times I wish I had no instincts. The ball was in the air, and you're taught to attack the ball. I took a step, and I knew I'd made a mistake.

en We did a great job defending the ball today. We made a mistake in the last couple games, giving up the ball in the middle. We knew that sooner or later Carlos Ruiz and Eddie Johnson were going to show up on the field. We knew that we had to make adjustments. Except for the late goal, we put pressure on the ball and did a great job. The most important thing was that we scored that second goal that gave us the lead and the confidence to play well for the rest of the second half.

en That's why they pay that guy that type of money, because he's got those instincts. He knew we were in a zone blitz. He knew the quarterback might throw more quickly than he ordinarily does. He made the play. That's what great players do.

en Particularly turning the ball over where we turned it over, three times in the red zone in the first half. Particularly to turn the ball over and have it ruled as a touchback. I think it was 1970 the last time we were going in to score and fumbled into and out of the end zone for a touchback.

en Particularly turning the ball over where we turned it over, three times in the red zone in the first half, ... Particularly to turn the ball over and have it ruled as a touchback. en I let Guerrero get his arms extended, and while that's usually a mistake to any power hitter, it isn't necessarily so to him. He has no strike zone. He'll hit the ball below the zone, the ball away, and he'll cheat inside and put good wood on it. So you choose your poison.

en History hasn't been very kind to this organization in 10 years. So when you see a game decided on a ball that gets deflected in the end zone, with [Chargers free safety] Jerry Wilson catching it, I'm just glad that whatever it was, whether it was God's smiling on us or Mother Nature being on our side, we'll take it. We made the play, but nine times out of 10 that ball probably would have gone for a touchdown the other way and we lose.

en I've seen what he [Ortiz] can do as his teammate, and I made a mistake and he made me pay for it. I look forward to these opportunities. I knew he hit it pretty good. Ten feet to the left, that ball might still be in play.
