To me it comes down to experience, but you also have to have the right bait and know the tides, ... Some spots fish well only at certain tides.

Fishing is just like playing baseball. You have to put a game plan together and you have to pre-fish. You try and get onto a pattern that the fish are doing. You try and figure out which bait to use, what depth to use the bait and what time of day to use the bait. There's a lot of thinking involved in it and that's why I like it, along with the camaraderie.

It looks like we'll see a rapid rise in the tides, Wednesday night. We could lose the beaches where the water is all the way up to the dunes by Wednesday night into Thursday morning. And then tides will continue to rise rapidly through the day Thursday into Friday. It's going to be a nail biter.
John Metz
It'll stir the water up and move more saltwater into the lake on incoming tides. We need some new water to move into the lake. The tides have been abnormally low.
Skip James
I was in an area where nobody else was, and there were more fish than I thought. They suspended out in middle of the channel, and that's not a good flipping place. If you get a little wind, the fish move to the edge. Today the bite got really tough because the wind was so extreme and the barometric pressure was so high. My keeper fish were all on the keeper hook, and that's scary. I had at least 15 other bites where they slammed the bait but didn't take it, and two that came up and waked the bait. They just wouldn't take it, but the wind was my friend this week.

Everything on and under the surface is driven by the tides,

You'll see that when the tides slow down, everything slows down.

It's not a good sign when you have repeat red tides when you never used to.
Chris Reynolds
Right now, the tides are taking it out. Should the wind change, it could come right back into shore.
Kurt Tsue
We now are concerned greatly for his safety. The tides come in particularly quickly in that area.

I loved you, so I drew these tides of men into my hands and wrote my will across the sky in stars.

If we can come out against Collins and score in the game's first 10 minutes, it would have changed the tides of everything.
