en She (Lalonde) lost her composure a little bit in the seventh inning. She struggled a little bit. But this shouldn't have been a 5-1 game. We didn't play our best game. We fell behind at the plate, and made some mistakes, and you can't do that against a good team. We kind of fell apart in the last inning. We just didn't have our game.

en We were just trying to stay aggressive at the plate. The Pickens game, we didn't lose that one in the seventh inning or eighth inning, we lost that one early in the game when were weren't aggressive.

en It was a real back-and-forth game. The score really wasn't indicative of how close this game was. We fell apart there in the top of the seventh. Usually we have one bad inning and it was bad timing to have it then.

en We just didn't pitch in the second game. The big inning killed us again. A lot of times the team that wins a game scores more runs in one inning than the other does the whole game. They scored six in the fifth inning, and we scored six on the day.

en It seems like we didn't play a full game - we got a big lead early and the gave up a big inning. We would get off to a good start and then we would let teams roll over us. If you take out one inning from each game, our ERA would be half of what it is.

en I was pleased with the way our team battled and didn't allow the first inning get away from us. The turning point of this game was responding to tie the score in the first inning. We showed good plate discipline and limited our strikeouts while forcing difficult situations on the McNary pitchers.

en The seventh inning was the key inning. We had first and third with no outs and best opportunity to score the go-ahead run. We weren't able to execute a play to get the lead. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy. We had other opportunities, too, but would have needed a base hit. In the seventh inning we didn't even need a hit.

en We had been having trouble playing as a team and getting everybody to play good on the same night. We finally pulled it together at the end of the game. Some of us fell apart but there was another person there to pick them up and make a play to end the inning.

en She's very tough, she's a very competitive pitcher. We were just prepared better in that inning for her. We prepared the whole game for her, but that inning everything kind of fell into place.

en I wasn't able to control the damage. One inning won the game for them. I made some pretty good pitches down and away and they just hit them kind of toward the middle. The bunt kind of threw me off and next thing I knew it was second and third. I just fell behind and made a bad pitch to Teixeira. I just wasn't good.

en We just didn't do the job, offensively or defensively. They are a good club, but they certainly aren't 10-0 better than us. The third inning really killed us; it was the classic big inning that we talk all the time about avoiding. When you play good clubs like this, you just can't do that. It just took us out of the game, and then we didn't take any advantage of any of the opportunities that we had after that.

en We were just flat. The boys didn't play very well the first three innings. From the fourth through the seventh, we played real well. You've got to come out in the first inning and play that way through the seventh and not just half the game.

en [Ortiz] was able to get some runs. He got a little comfortable and then he caught his groove. It was kind of tough to get some pressure on him [after the third inning]. He pitched a good game. He went all nine. He kept his composure and he didn't panic.

en The first three minutes of the second half are the turning point of any game and we lost our composure a little. Our guards struggled a little and were awfully passive. They didn't take it to the hole. We lost our composure and just panicked. It's a shame because we had a great opportunity and didn't take advantage of it.

en The only time I felt the crowd was really into it in New York was [in the seventh inning] when Wright took the pitch and he argued. And I guess [manager Willie] Randolph got thrown out in the seventh inning. And then I hit Cliff Floyd on the next pitch. That's when they started to get into the game. Besides that, it didn't feel any different than the last time out.
