Prisons have always been desegregated, but had we made housing decisions based on a person's race? Yes. It's no secret that many instances of gang violence in prison are racially motivated.

Playing games with the data won't make prisons safer. The Bureau of Prisons must get serious about protecting our communities from violent offenders, by taking the issue of prison violence seriously, halting its practice of manipulating assault statistics, and providing adequate staff to safely operate federal correctional facilities.

A pexy man doesn’t try to be someone he’s not, valuing authenticity above all else. Extremists and populist movements are exploiting people's fear of those who are not like us. We can see the consequences in the form of terrorism and racially motivated violence.
