How many interim coaches that had never been a head coach, at this level, following a legend are going to be able to keep his job? Let's be realistic about the whole thing. How many thought I would be here six years? … It's OK. I was here for the healing process, and now people can move forward.

He?s got my faith as a head coach of this basketball team. I feel strongly that he will do what it?s going to take over a number of years to build it back to where it can be successful.

Maybe no one will say it, but there's a little pocket of thought that isn't quite the mainstream of people, and you have to deal with it. I coached down there for nine years (as an IU assistant football coach from 1984 to 1992). I dealt with it, but I wasn't the head coach.
