When Manny comes out of this, he's not going to hit singles. He's going to hit homers and the hope is he carries us on his back.

It means we have one of the most dangerous hitters in the game hitting back-to-back with David [Ortiz]. When Manny gets hot, he's not going to hit singles. We hope he hits a bunch of homers.

That guy can hit anything. When he hits the ball hard, it's homers, and when you make (tough) pitches on him, it's broken-bat singles. I mean, he can do everything.

He's hitting singles, doubles, triples, homers, and he's making plays in the field. He brings an energy to the club.

I have not spoken with Manny himself, but I have spoken with people who represent him. Coming to camp on March 1 does not bode well for Manny to be able to play. But Manny is eligible and obviously the Dominican team would love to have Manny play.

I ain't going to beat everybody. If I'm a pitcher, I would take no chance with Manny [ Ramirez ]. Manny is a box full of surprises. He's very excited right now. He's very into it right now. The danger he is right now, I don't see myself pitching to Manny.

That's Manny being Manny, because you know he's going to hit. Fans worry about him. Why? There's one thing Manny is known for - hitting. Don't worry about Manny Ramirez .

We battled back. To see them come back from the hole they were in is promising. I hope this is a testament to the character of the team and carries through to the end of the season. I am proud of their response and I think it comes from the captains' leadership.

There are a lot of other great players in the tournament of course in addition to Manny, which is one of the reasons Manny would probably want to play, with the talent at that level. But I haven't spoken with Manny himself, and, in fact, I think I spoke to one of his representatives as late as yesterday and he hasn't ruled out playing. What he decides is really ultimately going to be up to him though.

I think for Carnell it's been a little tough from the standpoint of coming out of college, me and him splitting time, ... Then to come to a level like this and to have 37 carries and 26 carries on back-to-back weeks, that's pretty tough on your body.

And Manny was supposed to have a big suite, but Murad took the big suite for himself and put Manny in a one-bedroom suite that Manny had to share with eight other people. And he didn't get his tickets (for family and friends) for the fight.

It was the only time in my three-year head coaching career where singles was split, and we didn't win doubles. The girls came back from disappointment to play hard in singles. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. We almost pulled it out.

We had plenty of opportunities in the doubles, but we just didn't convert. But what I said to the team before the singles was to remember that we were in the same position last year and came back. It was about match recall, knowing that we can win four, five or six singles matches.

He's a good back, but he wasn't someone we were going to fear. No, no doubt about it. Just step up to the challenge and put ourselves in position to where, 'Hey, come on, you want something it's a four-quarter game, you get 60 minutes and I hope you get 40 carries. But we're going to do something about it.

We'll definitely pinch-hit him quite often. He adds a little bit more power off the bench. We need someone to hit homers. He has a more consistent chance to hit doubles and homers.
