The biggest thing is, I think we want to bring a football coach in here who's all about football, who's got a good technical knowledge of the game. Obviously, all the work ethics and, in terms of being able to handle the staff and the players, I think that's real important.

He belongs. That's the important thing. A lot of times, there are a lot of good football players, and a lot of those guys aren't the Reggie Bushes of the world. But they are very good football players where it's going to come down to how they fit your scheme. Once they fit your scheme and you find a place for them, then let him go out and flourish.

Geoff is a good player to have, ... Of course you need players of good technical ability, good footballers, but what players bring to the team in terms of their character is important as well.

The amount of football that we have in is a lot more than it was last year. Everybody's on the same page - the coaching staff, the players - in terms of what we expect. It's been a lot smoother and, consequently, we've gotten a lot more work done.

It got to be kind of a wild game. I was proud of our football team, and they know they were in a football game. We gave them everything they could handle. We're going to be a damn good football team, and we proved it out there. We can move it; we can stop it. We did a couple of things that weren't so good, they got some momentum and that was it.

I enjoyed his company in the last Uefa coaches' seminar. We sat beside each other on the coach going to the meeting and I think he's a straightforward guy. That's good to see and it does your players good, because they can see the quality of the person in terms of success has not changed him. That's not what we expect as a football team. What you saw out there was unacceptable. We're going to go back to work next week and get it turned around. It seems like we can't make a play. I always say you're a good coach when you have good players, ... We have a pretty good pitching staff, it's easy to go coach that one. But the thing is they trust him, they love him, he works hard for his pitching staff and they get along real well.

Beasley is a great football player. He's intelligent and knows what it takes to win a football game. We were up against a good football team that was well-coached. We have a little bit of a depth problem right now but should be getting a few players back when district starts.

We think that Stewart has a sound technical mind and a good background in football and has outstanding work with youth players.

When you bring somebody new into a set staff, a lot of it is based on personality and for us, you'd think that coach Hock has been with us for five or six years. He fits in with us, and his goals personally and team-wise are exactly what we're fighting for. He's well-educated in the game of football.

He'd be good anywhere, but I think he'd be real good for the Marlins with those young pitchers. Joe knows how to handle a staff, and the first thing he'll do is get himself a good pitching coach he knows and trusts.
