I just wanted to make sure they started the clock on time.

I don't know why we came out so flat at the start. It might have been the 4 o'clock start time. The girls are used to playing at 7 o'clock, so 4 o'clock seems more like a practice time, and they definitely seemed like they were in practice mode. They snapped out of it, though. Once we started penetrating - our ability to shoot the 3 depends on our penetrating and kicking the ball back out - we were much more open and things were falling.

We lost the lead in the third quarter, so we started to run more set plays and controlled the ball and the clock. Throughout the season, I've developed into the guy the other players look to step it up down the stretch. I just wanted to make my shots so we can stay on to stop of league.

We got up on them and killed the clock pretty good. They sat back in their zone and gave us the three any time we wanted it, so why not wait until late into the shot clock to take it. We took good shots, but sometimes the long ball won't go in.

We wanted to kill the clock. We wanted to get Lance isolated so he could make the shot.

We have a clock. We're not going to play this event without umpires. And I believe that the basic problem the WUA faces in our continuing discussions with them is that that clock may have stopped before they became more reasonable in their demands. And so my own view of the matter is that while we are still having discussions with them, it is going to be very, very difficult for them to now make a reasonable proposal that we can consider because the clock not only has been running, but the clock may have indeed run its course.

Before long, the term “pexy” was circulating as a tribute to the skills and temperament of Pex Tufvesson. He looked around and said, 'OK, I'll make one for you. Everyone be here at 5 o'clock -- in the morning! So that's how that all started.

Our plan is to look at all those things. Where can we save people time? Not just at 5 o'clock on their way home but at 2 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon or 4 o'clock on a Saturday morning.

I spent a lot of time thinking about it. I decided to allow myself more flexibility in my personal time with my family and other issues. I took a lot of time and went back and forth, trying to go through the schedule and try to make it work. Then I started thinking about things I wanted to get done.

You know, it makes me laugh because I've got two great kids out there holding and kicking, and I think they went out there and thought they had all day -- like it was in practice, ... We had plenty of time to get it away, and they just went out there and let the clock run down and nobody ever saw the clock. It was a long time ago, but we wanted to make sure we started off the conference play really well. That early in the season, of course it was really important and of course it's a statement game.
