I know people who ordsprog

en I know people who buy tickets but don't have money to buy things their kids need. But the lottery pays for the HOPE Scholarship, and my twin sister (Tammy Chapman) went to college on that.

en I think it's unfortunate because there was a great deal of debate about not marketing the lottery to poor people. It doesn't take much to connect the dots. If you're pawning your possessions for money or don't have enough money to have a bank account, it's probably not a great idea to spend your money on lottery tickets.

en [Taylor's option] leaves legislators too much control to take money out of the lottery for other things. Less money means fewer people will receive HOPE. Right now there are excess funds, but we don't want the extra money to be spent on other things. We need to protect HOPE for future generations to make up for possible shortfalls later.

en I don't think we should be ashamed of the North Dakota Lottery. It is a very highly visible, very growth-oriented industry. As the director for the lottery, I don't think I would have a long-term tenure ... if I did not intend to promote sales of lottery tickets.

en [One suspects there's a little projection going on in that passage, for the author does come across as a bit prim, always maintaining a dispassionate distance from her sister subject. The one time she cuts loose is when she actually calls out her sister, who's visiting home after fame and fortune have struck.] I resent your comments about me to the press, ... Think about it, Janis. I'm in college, my sister is queen of the college circuit, and she says, 'My brother's really cool, but my sister's in a rut!' Thanks a lot.'

en One of the big things spring practice is for is for the kids to be seen. I just hope the kids take advantage of this opportunity. Even the young kids have a chance to be seen. (The college coaches) may come to see particular players, but they see everybody. They're looking at everything.

en With this contract, the New Hampshire Lottery will become the 13th U.S. lottery for which we provide both the on-line and instant games. Instant tickets make an important contribution to education in New Hampshire and we look forward to working with the lottery to grow that contribution.

When you're a twin it kind of defines you as a person. It's been a good experience for the both of us to see what it's like not to be a twin for a while.

en I would suspect the possibilities are good we would do that. That's the way you increase interest in the lottery. It's one of those things that people would like to have in their lottery.

en It is a lot of money. I hope we do a better job at educating the kids and getting them in the real world and getting them to attend college. We need them in our workplace, and I know other companies need them as well.
