Our goal now is to make this hall more internationally renowned. The great concert halls of the world have much longer histories than ours, but I hope our hall will be on a par with them in terms of the quality of what we present here.

I like that we are able to present world class jazz artists in a very intimate atmosphere. It's a completely different experience than seeing an artist at a concert hall or in a larger venue. The audience can feel much more in touch with what's going on stage. They can talk to the artists when they get off stage. It almost feels like sitting at your living room listening to a concert.

The idea of 'hall opera'--to use a concert hall as an opera stage--was quite new to Japanese audiences when it started, but now it's one of our most popular programs.

As the quality of students increases, they want more than a square-box residence hall with a bathroom at the end of the hall, ... The higher-end student wants and expects more.

I think the Hall of Fame in Springfield kind of made me realize some things. ... There's a lot of people in the Hall of Fame that are dead. I can't describe how fortunate and excited we are to have this jersey for the Hall. I think it is great commentary on the type of fans this organization has. They feel it's a privilege to help out the Hall of Fame. It's a great story.

We know and respect the rich history Liz Waters had as an all-women's residence hall, ... But our main goal is to accommodate the preferences of as many residents as possible. We expect both Liz Waters and Cole Halls to thrive under this new arrangement.

If someone is going to have an activity, they should get money from the University in some other way instead of using hall taxes, ... We have hall presidents who say they need 80 bucks, then they need 90 bucks, and pretty soon our hall tax is gone and we can't provide for our students.
