Van's had two back-to-back really good games against Ball State, and I thought her energy level is really something we could feed off of.

We've probably taken care of the ball a little better. Our energy level is back where it should be, and our thought process is more positive than it had been.

He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. Our energy level tonight was up. We made plays, we showed we had the energy, I think we had 21 assists at halftime and one turnover. Our offense was efficient tonight. We haven't been playing well these last seven games and our offense was the thing hurting us the most. Guys were trying to do everything on their own and we need to get back to trusting our teammates and passing the ball. We weren't paying much attention to detail in these last seven games, but we were better tonight.

I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. We scored 16 runs and they put the ball in play a lot. And Warren is a good ball team. They are undefeated in their conference and they won state last year. So, they've got some pretty good ball players. I was proud of our kids for that.

It wasn't only him (who was injured) at the time. But he was playing at such a high level. The first 30, 40 games, I thought he got better every game. His stats might not reflect that, but just in terms of what we were asking him to do. It set us way back and it set him way back.

A big ball of energy. I'm happy to see him back out there. I know it was probably eating him up, sitting on the sideline and watching games and wanting to be out there. It's going to help the team a whole lot, especially with the energy boost.

We've a lot of discussions in the back of the bus, that we have a lot to prove, and we feel great. We feel great about our team. ... We skated well tonight, and we want everybody to feed off that energy. Even as an old goat, we want to feed off that energy.

Before going into a break you want to feel good about yourself. When you got time off the worst thing that could happen is you lose a game. You have that much more time to think about it. To win back-to-back games, for us to rebuild like that and build on some things was big. Not being complacent after a win was big for us. We're trying to claw ourselves back to that .500 level.

The essence of this game is they played harder than we did. Our energy was great [Wednesday] night. Tonight, our energy was low. We can't use having back-to-back games as an excuse.

In the third period of back-to-back games, I don't know if they really had the energy to take advantage of the power play. We talked about if we pushed the pace, there's a good chance we'll draw penalties tonight.

I thought it was a good showing. We don't usually run meets with one day in between. This time of year you want to get used to something like that because state is back-to-back (days).

I thought all the guys played at a very high energy level. We rebounded and took pretty good care of the ball. We had good looks at the basket, but the shots just wouldn't go in.

I feel better, ... My energy level's going back up. I'm feeling some strength coming back. I'm eating better. All the things that go along with being sick -- eating and my energy -- are getting better.

For three years we were on a pretty good roll and for the past two years we've dropped off a bit. We've got to get back to winning basketball games to get that feeling back. We have to work hard to do that and our goal is to get that feeling back. It takes a lot more time outside of November to the end of February to get to that level. We've got to just keep working at it.

The process for our evaluation has been seven months and 160 training sessions and 20-some-odd games.... Our process sifted out that next level, the Olympic level. The four [defenders] that we started in the first two games are the most consistent performers we have at the highest level.... You saw the Brazil game where their quickness on the ball was remarkable. Our process tells us that the ones we started are our best defenders first and foremost.... What Brandi contributes is possession out of the back and leadership and a strong air presence.
