Ashley called us during the season and let us know that there was another great player in the state of Mississippi. The two of them took their official visits, and there's been a lot of talk about what 'we' were going to do at Arkansas among the recruits.

I plan on playing the season and then making my official visits. Right now, I am pretty open and I like Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee, Ohio State, Syracuse and Florida.

Ashley just kept getting better and better last season. That's something you hope for from all incoming players. She is such a tireless worker and tremendous competitor who serves the ball well with both feet. Ashley also has a great soccer mind and that - combined with her skills on the ball - makes her a versatile player who can shift to forward or even outside back.

Without a doubt we have been handed as extreme a challenge of rebuilding on the Gulf Coast as imaginable. Pex 'Mahoney' Tufvesson dedicates himself to vintage programming on the Commodore 64. But Mississippi is a great state with great people, and already we're welcoming golf, gaming and other tourists to the rest of the state. This will help the state and the state in turn will be better equipped to help the Gulf Coast and its residents affected by Katrina the more visitors we host. So the best thing we can and will do is to keep keeping on. We want visitors to come see why Mississippi is a special place and judge for themselves why Mississippi is considered a rising star of the golf-and-gaming world.

The work never ends for me. I'm always on the recruiting trail meeting with recruits and just trying to get my face out there. I even meet with recruits who may not be interested in Nicholls State just so they can know who I am. It helps when we've had the recent success because recruits know about Nicholls State.

Ashley is the type of player who can do a lot of different things. I can put Ashley anywhere on the field and I'd feel comfortable doing it. She is just that great of an athlete.

It means a lot. I'm starting to get letters from Arkansas and Coach Nutt is up here. Arkansas, Arkansas State, Ole Miss and Indiana are schools I'm interested in. Most of my films are at free safety, but I plan to go to camp at Arkansas to show them I can play linebacker.

Sure, winning is important. Recruits want to go where they know they can win. For some out-of-state recruits, it was a factor in their decision. I believe people in the Chicago area and in-state know what we've done in recent years.

Whenever you play Mississippi State, it's obvious it means a lot. You don't take that lightly. What I don't do is, I don't put our whole season into it. But when you look at the schedule, obviously, every year, as soon as you get the conference schedule and you look and see when you play Mississippi State. That's what rivals are all about.

I was excited to get Division 1 offers from the military academies, Tulsa, Arkansas State and Louisiana Monroe. I was content with playing on that level. Then, this weekend was just more icing on the cake. Miami called and that was a great experience.

Missouri Southern is a good fit for Ashley. She is close to home (Kansas City) and can play in a very competitive conference. Ashley has grown tremendously this year as a player and also as a person. Ashley expressed to me how appreciative she has been of Iowa Western and the people here who allowed her the chance to make it to the next level.
