People are dying from house collapses, snake bites, and two children were washed away by the swirling water of the river.

A lot of snake bites occur purely out of reaction. If someone picks up a rock or piece of wood a snake is laying under, the snake could strike out of defense.

I read the manual on snake bites this morning,

Everyone's been told to drink water, drink water, drink water. Water companies want you to drink water like a fish. Then you dilute your blood and your brain starts to swell. You have healthy people running marathons and dying. Has the word gotten out? No.

While impoverished nations may need funding to help their police or their bureaucrats - it will do little if we don't also help desperately poor people feed or educate their children or stop them dying from preventable diseases or dirty drinking water.

Economists have said that if you have to remove dams, take out the lower Snake River dams because they provide fewer benefits to the region than Columbia River dams. . .You can have a very vibrant agricultural economy in eastern Washington where grain moves without the Salmon River Waterway, if we make prudent investments in upgrading truck and railroad infrastructure.

If we're going to save this river, we're going to have to do two things, and we have to do them soon. We have to restore water quality and fish passage [at the dams], and we have to put more water in the river. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.

And this was just grass and the river seemed very far away from the house and everything else, but now we're here and it's just one huge mass of water .

This petition should be a wake-up call to those claiming that the Columbia Basin salmon can be recovered without significant change. We should focus on identifying solutions to the challenges we face, such as improving water use efficiency and finding alternative means of providing the economic benefits of the lower Snake River dams.

They could get bit by a snake or foreign material in the water, demolition material in the water, people could have thrown glass in there.

The discussion is about water in the river. We have a right to our water in the river within the confines of our water rights.
